Hi everyone,
I am seeking some sb advice from the Shops afficiando’s for Oath as I have been having a difficult time dealing with it. This is a prevalent deck in my meta.
I will start by showing you my list. I will get this out there now that I don’t have any Power.
List:
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Wasteland
4 Sphere of Resistance
2 City of Traitors
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Metalworker
3 Rishadan Port
4 Tangle Wire
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Duplicant
1 Trinisphere
2 Crucible of Worlds
2 Staff of Domination
1 Ghost Quarter
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Lodestone Golem
1 Steel Hellkite
1 Wurmcoil Engine
3 Phyrexian Metamorph
1 Sol Ring
3 Mishra's Factory
1 Mana Crypt
4 Mishra's Workshop
1 Strip Mine

Sideboard
1 Triskelion
1 Duplicant
2 Precursor Golem
1 Ratchet Bomb
1 Wurmcoil Engine
4 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Karakas
3 Tormod's Crypt

Siding in: I think this is relatively obvious.
Duplicant, 4 x Grafdiggers, 2x Karakas and possibly the Ratchet Bomb.
The difficult part and where I am seeking your feedback is what do I take out of my main deck to accommodate 6-7 sb cards?

Siding out:
-2-4 Chalice: My first thought is take out 2-4 Chalice of the void as having 4 x Grafdiggers and a Chalice that you have set at 1 is really bad. This just leads to a lot of dead draws. Having said that I find it is a good way to negate Oath / Hurkyls Recall if I can get an early chalice set at 2.
-1 Ghost Quarter and -1 COT: This is a fair trade for the 2x Karakas.
This is where I am honestly lost as to what is the best plan.
I am uncertain if I want to side out Crucible’s or Staff of Domination combo (good at tapping down Oath creature’s when in a pinch as well as the obvious combo with metalworker).
Should I just cut 4 Sphere of resistance.
Any help or feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Chalice 2 against Oath seems really good. Maybe I'm crazy but turning a two card combo deck into a Show and Tell deck(if they even play it) is pretty good.

Metalworker seems really bad against Oath. Maybe I'm crazy but turning a two card combo deck into a one card combo deck seems like a weak plan.

tl:dr

-4 Metalworker
-2 Staff of Domination
-1 Wurmcoil Engine
+4 Grafdigger's Cage
+1 Duplicant
+1 Triskelion (can kill the Orchard Tokens + itself after you Waste/Quarter/Strip the Orchard)
+1 Ratchet Bomb (set to 2, kill Oath's)

If you want to force the Karakas in (it's terrible against Griselbrand) you can, but I am not sure what you want out. Maybe 1 Crucible and one Lodestone.

I agree with everything you said Tom, you are spot on with your board strategy.

Further, if Oath is really a big player in your metagame, then the best way to combat Oath is probably to play a different Workshop list.  Personally, if I were you, I would play either Espresso, Martello, Marinara or Terra Nova, as no offense to you, but they are better suited to do well than your list.  Also, Metalworkers are inherently weak against Oath, because as Tom said it turns their 2 card combo into a one card combo and unlike Kuldotha Forgemaster, does not provide an immediate answer to the Oath.

Thanks for the advice Samoht.
We see qutie a bit of SNT in our Oath builds forsure. I can see where your coming from as well with siding out Metworkers. I do like Karakas though. Even though it won't stop a BSC and is quite poor against Griselbrand it can just save your arse if they run Dragons Breath. I will do some testing with your suggestions.

In December I played Ghosttown Shops, got 2nd, played Oath in the Swiss and went 2-0. My secret? Mana Denial!
Here is my list:

4 Shop
4 Waste
4 Tomb
4 Factory
3 Ghost Quarter
Strip
Tolarian
Lotus
5 Moxen
Sol
Crypt
4 Golem
4 Revoker
4 Metamorph
4 Wire
4 CotV
4 Sphere
4 Thorn
3 Crucible
Trini

Sideboard:
4 Tormod
3 Cage
3 Dismember
3 Ratchet Bomb
1 Ghost Quarter
1 Tabernacle

The list plays similarly to Landstill in the Oath Matchup, siding out most of your dudes for Cages, Quarter, and Ratchets, beating with Factories...
Give it a try

Witchbane orb is a great anti-oath card, and especially helps if your opponent decides they want to go Hurkyll's-happy.

I'd chop the 2x Karakass for 2 of these.

I 2-0'd a maniac oath deck running espresso shops Saturday.

Ratchet bomb put in work. Mana denial g1, and blowing up tokens with ratchet g2 won it for me.
