There was a bombing at the Boston Marathon today, for those who haven't heard.  I know we have a lot of New Englanders in the community, and I would love to hear that you're all ok.

This is all happening only a mile away from my apartment - it's surreal.  I hope everyone else in the community here is okay.

I just want to say for the record that an intentional targeted attack against non-combatants has to be one of the most despicable actions a person can commit.

I agree Paul.  Unfortunately, this is most likely not the act of any terrorists, but of our own government - though the fed will certainly find an enemy to blame.  $100 says a north korean is captured in link to the bombing.

We are not doing this in this thread. -Klep

I have never been so glad to be out of shape. For those familiar with the area, the bombing happened at the intersection of Boylston and Exeter Streets. Two fatalities, one of whom is reported to be an 8 year old. Many more injured.

There was a third incident at JFK Library, involving an incendiary device. Local police aren't definitely connecting it to the Marathon bombing, butgiven the circumstances, it's hard not to think they're related.

A person of interest is being questioned at Brigham & Women's Hospital.

Best wishes to my fellow Vintage players and their loved ones.

JFK library was a fire apparently, not related. I was out walking enjoying the day seeing people and stuff. I live about a mile away as well. I didn't hear the explosion, because we happened to be in the drug store getting drinks. Never seen so many police cars and EMS responders in one area.

It's been chaotic down there, and it is sad that these things happen.

I was in Kenmore. The craziest part was that people knew within less than 2 minutes due to twitter. You can see some of the photos of the casualties on reddit it's real bad. Lots of my friends were running and literally hundreds of people I know were at the marathon (I am a BU alum). No one's phone was working due to overloaded system. You couldn't call anyone to say you were ok or ask if they were hurt.

Just a real fucked up day.

My wife and I are good, although we are somewhat discomposed.

A stretch of sidewalk that I used to tread on every day was exploded and showered in people parts.  I'm so far removed as that I don't know anyone that was injured or on the scene as these events occurred, but I'll never be able to look at that sidewalk the same way ever again.

My heart goes out to whoever needs it.

My sincerest thoughts and well-wished to any who were present or know any who were present during this tragedy.  Some people just like to watch the world burn.  Hopefully swift justice will befall them.

I agree.  As if life isn't hard enough. Sad

If I had of been 2 minutes faster last year I'd have qualified for this race, at the time I was gutted beyond all words. Now I'm so relived that my family wasn't there waiting for me at the the finish line. My thoughts go out to all who lost someone / were hurt and also to the nearly 5000 runners who put their heart and soul into qualifying, travelling to a racing the marathon and not being allowed / able to finish for obvious reason.

What has been achieved?  The shedding of innocent blood does not bring good attention to the plight of the downtrodden.  Terrorism is just another form of oppression.
