And Force of Will is now more valuable than Timetwister.

In all seriousness, if Time Vault isn't considered Power, then neither should Timetwister.

If your going to draft anyway I wouldn't rush in to getting power. I would get cards not from the set #1 being wasteland and fetchlands.

And dont settle on zendikar fetches if they are cheaper and you only need to fetch blue because they will get reprinted this year and there will be a big gap between ols ones and zendikar ones. So might as well pay the extra now because in case you need a polluted delta or strand fetchability (stoneforge in legacy I guess?) in the future, and protect your investment.

Wait, what?  I'm not aware of any promised reprints on fetches?

It's a false rumor. Fetches won't be reprinted until at least 2015 per MaRo....

It's not a false rumor, it is a rumor.

There are a lot of signals it could happen with the next block in the fall.

1) they were not reprinted in Vintage Masters (but the comes into play tapped fetches from Mirage were)
2) they have stated that they want the on-color fetches in modern
3) they want to keep the modern format accessible to new players, and that means keeping the mana bases at a reasonable cost.  $200 tarmogoyfs do not hurt the format like $100 blue fetches do.  (not printing them would put scalding tarn and misty rainforest at the $200 price level, if not higher)
4) they have stated that they will not print half cycles of lands again.  So when they print different types of dual lands, there will be 10 of them in a block.
5) The Ravnica Shock Lands rotate out of Standard, so fetch lands will not define the format.

There is also a need to reprint the Shadowmore filter lands at some point as well.  It was signaled from the Future Sight print of Graven Cairns, and an article coming out around shadowmore on wizards site alluding to the fact the future sight flavor text version will come at some point in the future.  The Vampire theme doesn't seem to mesh well with the Warlord and Dragon theme of Huey.

MTGO runs flashback drafts alongside cube. A couple of weeks ago it was CHK block and INN block, which dropped the price of Lilianas 30 tix. It is quite possible that Wizards decides to run Tempest or Zendikar block drafts to lower the price of Wasteland and the fetch lands after Vintage Masters or issue Waste/Port/etc. as a promo in the upcoming months. That will be more relevant in the short-term in reducing prices.

All of that disregards that Mark Rosewater explicitly stated on a public forum that they will not appear in packs in 2014. Like, really...

Wasn't MaRo, rather was Aaron Forsythe. Here's a link:

Even then there wasn't an explicit statement that 2014 was out of the question.  Just a coy "these things take time"

I was informed by a credible source that MaRo explicitly mentioned it in a podcast type medium in the very recent past.

Probably because they didn't put any Modern legal card?

That doesn't preclude the Onslaught fetches though.  Or Wasteland, or Misdirection.

Didn't they promo all the Onslaught Fetches so they're super cheap?

Bots sell 60, buy 54 for Delta. It's not super-cheap in the least.

Seems like a dramatic understatement to call this a volatile market.

It's crazy because it's so unprecedented. You have people panic buying, then people panic selling, and then others playing chicken with the market prices because the conventional wisdom is that prices will eventually bottom out.

It's ripe for making up theories, throwing them at the wall, and seeing which one sticks.

I want to play some MTG games but I have no interest in getting involve in the trading.

To enter the game, this thread really makes it sound like one must first go through the casino via the roulette, blackjack tables and slot machines. This whole thing sounds like my worst nightmare really.

If it was possible to share an account, I'ld rather throw $200/year in a pot with other members to have access to the full card pool. Maybe I don't worry about it and join Cockatrice if I'm that desperate.

Prices for Power will go down. We are 5 days in and there's a lot of demand...which will be met by all of the packs opened over the next 3+ MONTHS. There is simply no way prices can stay that high when so much supply will be opened. That's not how the MTGO market works. Likewise, a lot of the VMA rares that are at $2-5 now are also going to go down as the market floods with more opened product. I'm holding off buying for a couple weeks at least.

@JACO
Thoughts on Force of Will's "final" price? It seems likely to be a major driver of cost in the future as Legacy players buy them up. Would you recommend that folks buy those now or later?

@JACO The limited events stop July 3rd. They said they are unsure if they are going to keep the limited format in the draft room (constructed is safe and will be here forever). They will be for sale until September in the store but without drafts and sealed people are going to open less packs. People might gamble for power but that would be the only way potentially.

Having power be this high is a huge incentive for folks to buy packs, so I agree with Jaco.  I expect prices to go back down after a few weeks.

People will do that for sure but not a lot. Online vendors maybe mass pack buying.

Honestly If the events stop it will be the legacy players and current people with vintage decks who still get prize packs in large amounts.
