Well, I am bored of Lodestone Golem, but I am unsure if its possible to get something competive running in Shops without him. Maybe this list would have been more playable in a meta without Golems, and less hate.

There is the oldschool Fanboy Kiddie, that loved the combo between Su-Chi and Transmute Artifact. So color Shops of similar kind were running Goblin Welder, but without the support of Thirst for Knowledge you don't get the gears running. I decided to go with Master Transmuter, which is somehow a forgotten powerhouse, even if he is not powerful as Golem, but worthy to give it a try. I tested Solemn Simulacrum, but he is to slow, even if its fun to "blink" him with Transmuter. Gilded Lotus is much more into the face, since you can catch up Duplo and Trike immidietly with Transmute Artifact.

Most powerful card in the Deck is Chalice@1, which could be comparable with Trini back in the Day. Not against every deck, but most times its very strong. A point where you came across the problem of running Welders.

To the list:

--Mana--
4 Mishra's Workshop
1 Tolarian Academy
2 Ancient Tomb
2 Scalding Tarn
6 Island
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Jet
1 Black Lotus
--Cantrips--
1 Brainstorm
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Ponder
1 Thirst for Knowledge
--Tinker--
4 Transmute Artifact
1 Tinker
--Control--
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Force of Will
1 Trinisphere
--Creatures--
4 Su-Chi
3 Solemn Simulacrum
4 Master Transmuter
3 Triskelion
1 Myr Battlesphere
1 Duplicant
1 Sundering Titan
--Goodie--
1 Spine of Ish Sah
--Sideboard--
3 Phyrexian Metamorph
2 Hurkyl's Recall
3 Tormod's Crypt
3 Grafdigger's Cage
4 Sphere of Resistance

I grinded 3 days, and I came to that list, and have the feeling I am stuck. Don't know if there is a card that can unleash things. Maybe going with Welder and Strategic Planning? This is a short choice, but you end up with another list. Maybe someone has fun to tweak a bit on this idea, I guess the list popped up in my mind 3 years too late haha.

Cheers

//EDIT: List updated. Solemns are most time better than Gilded Lotus. Less explosive, but more supporting in the long run. In the sideboard i dropped Wurmcoil for Metamorphs. The manabase is not that powerful, and you want to have a lower mana curve.

I toyed with master transmuter and found that I wanted 1 lightning greaves. Maybe my testing was not good enough (and the build was a bit different, featuring BSC), but drawin a transmuter with greaves in play is nice.

Also, no key+vault? 0 kuldothas? Is triskelion better than staff of nin now?

I will follow this thread, as I like some of the options here Smile

Greaves are great, I tested them back in the day with 4 Thirst, Master T and Goblin Welder. Where we come to Vault Key; Welder-Intuition on Vault/Key/xxx sounds great, but Drain Decks running black assamble that gameplan faster than we do. To fight that speed of Drains you need Chalices, which stands in the way of Welder and Vault/Key. Kuldotha sounds great also, but this list is Artifact low... but when I think about it, blowing ob Solemns and Su-Chis could be nice. But to find the Deckspace for Kuldotha you have either to cut things than are good saccing into him, or drop Forces.

Maybe to support Kuldotha do the madness and run Seat of Synods? If it wouldn't be that silly against Rods, I would probably do it. Then it would be possible to run Thoughtcast... There are so many possiblities to Brainstorm around, but you will everytime come to the point, if everything is worth not running Lodetones. At last postboard when facing hate that is dedicated to Workshop Prision, you will get that you are in trouble.

Master T and Trisk are great against the common Draw Eniges of blue, preboard most things are fine, but postboard you most time get the axe. My last approach was testing Jester's Scepter, which was superior to boarding 2 Spheres.

Going to test this in a Tournament, when I get Anc and Walk in time. I will tell you if have been crushed, and why Wink.

I think maybe adding an additional Battlesphere would be a good idea. The tokens are good fodder for Transmuter and if you wanted to include Kuldotha it would help there. You could also include a singleton Master of Etherium to pump the tokens and get huge as an additional wincon.

As I have seen this, my eyes went wet. Psionic Blast came to my mind, but hadn't the Guts to actually test it. 4 direct Damage through Chalice@1 that pitches seems pretty playable in U Shop. So List of the Start post -2 Triskelion, -1 Brainstorm, -1 Ponder +4 Psionic Blast.

Looks this way:

Manabase
4 Mishra's Workshop
1 Tolarian Academy
9 Island
2 Ancient Tomb
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Jet
1 Black Lotus
Power Blue
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Tinker
1 Time Walk
4 Transmute Artifact
1 Timetwister
Beatsticks
1 Triskelion
1 Sundering Titan
4 Master Transmuter
1 Myr Battlesphere
1 Duplicant
3 Solemn Simulacrum
4 Su-Chi
Control
4 Force of Will
4 Psionic Blast
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Trinisphere
Sideboard
3 Tormod's Crypt
4 Grafdigger's Cage
3 Phyrexian Metamorph
2 Lightning Greaves
3 Platinum Angel

Platnium Angel/Lightning Greaves is just a desperation move, against Swarm Aggro, like Affinity, some Humans or Merfolk.

If someone want to have a look, for some G1 Preboard Testmatches:

I don't know if this will Battle mass of Chewers, Claims, or Grudges Postboard, but I give Lightning Greaves a try.

If you're going to go that route, why not use Blightsteel Colossus and win?

Indeed. But Platz is easier to cast, or Transmute. When I think of going the Fattie route, I would be in for SB: Fatties + Show and Tell. The Plati/Greaves Version is lower on the mana infestment, and most I see some upsides in crossboardability in Greaves over Show and Tell.

Someone has more thoughts in a Show and Tell or BSC Sideboard?

I was wondering which time it was exactly from, thanks for clearing that out. Once there was a discussion about Transmute Artifact for getting an Power Level errata, into Flash style use. So as this list existed it is easier to clear out if Wizards had the intention to let Transmute Artifact work as "Flash". I know 93/94 were Instants split with Interrupts... this dosen't help me to figure out what Wizards were about. But as it is, I like Transmute Artifact as a fine card.

So, my 2 cents...

Yes, you need lodestone.  He's just that good.

Kuldotha does what transmute wants to do but better in a shops deck.  It is reusable, doesn't care about mana costs, and means you can run lodestone instead of terrible Su-chi.

If you want welder, which you should, run cavern of souls.  It gets through chalice @1, taps for colorless to cast artifacts, and can make "golem" uncounterable.

In general, a blue shops deck is just inferior to blue control or Mud/Rshops.  It does half of what each does, but not as well as either.
