The Rockies are abysmal.  On top of that, in Troy Tulowitzki, they have an expensive asset that they may not really need if they tank this year and go into rebuilding mode.

The Yankee farm system may not be very deep right now, but they would clearly have no problem taking on a huge contract.  There are still great pieces that are available (Sanchez, Williams, Heathcott, Banuelos, etc.), but they're young.

I think it's pretty clear that the Yankees should make a strong push for Tulo once the Rockies seem like they're out of it again.  There's always the injury concern, but if you're going to replace Derek Jeter, one of the greatest shortstops of all time, you want to do it with someone capable of carrying on in the tradition of Yankee greatness.

Do you want Tulo, or is there someone else that you'd like to see pick up Jeter's mantle?

Tulo's contract doesn't run out any time soon and when you factor in that he plays at Coor's his numbers are only marginally better than other shortstops.  For these reasons I don't see him going to the Yanks or them actually wanting to take on his contract.  I think much more realistically to take over Derek Jeter's job at the end of the season would be Asdrubal Cabrera.  His contract runs out at the end of the year and hes shown just as much potential as Tulo has.

Jimmy Rollins would look great in Yankee pinstripes! Or failing that DeSean Jackson is a free agent.
