So many cards that manipulate the library, but nothing to deal with a hate bear; even if you were to add 1-2 cards to the sideboard, it wouldnt come up on a consistent enough basis.  In my opinion this deck is only playable in a blue mirror, where casting spells that generate card advantage is more important.  Outside of that realm, this deck doesn't do much in the face of relevant opposition.

And yet the author chose not to attend the countries largest Vintage event of the year the following day iirc his home town.

I got really excited upon seeing that article, but think the deck was a little lackluster. I mostly play shops but I built LSV's VSL Doomsday list just to play for fun...I can't recall many situations where I would actually have the mana to cast gifts and then go off the same turn, except if I have the gush/bond engine going, in which case I already have better ways to win the game.

Playing that list against shops seems like it would be absolutely miserable
