1  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Hedron Alignment on: January 20, 2016, 10:26:44 am
Intuition, and pitching to FoW and Misdirection make this interesting. But it would probably need to include things like Manipulate Fate.
2  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Increasing Confusion on: January 09, 2012, 12:27:04 pm
Not experienced at posting pictures so giving the text.

Increasing Confusion UX

Sorcery    Rare
Target player puts the top X cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard. If Increasing Confusion was cast from a graveyard, that player puts twice as many cards into his or her graveyard instead.
Flashback UX

The Flashback really suits Dragon kills, all you need to do is put it into your graveyard, I still like Oona better (as she deals with Eldrazi better), but for at least there is another consideration.  It certainly could have other uses too.
3  Eternal Formats / Bazaar-Based Decks / Re: Snapcaster Six on: November 09, 2011, 12:32:25 pm
Banefire over Kaervek's Torch?
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Deck in development: Gaddock revised on: September 13, 2011, 11:17:01 am
I think that when Guli posted Azure Mage, he meant Snapcaster?  It's the focus of the 2nd paragraph, so as a new card I think of it as a blue mage, maybe he just juxtaposed the names.
5  Eternal Formats / Bazaar-Based Decks / Re: [Deck Discussion] Fatestitcher Dredge on: August 11, 2011, 11:11:19 am
There was even a comment that he might consider cutting 2 of the Sun Titans for Phantasmal Images, I think one replacement at most as you do need to copy the Sun Titan to be effective.

Nice report and I am happy to see such an "extreme" deck win, I didn't see that much "variance" and his opponents were all reasonably solid. This is one of my favorite archetypes and I am glad to see it get a high profile win - unfortunately that probably means more hate making it's way into sideboard and maindeck in the future.
6  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [m12] Phantasmal Image on: July 05, 2011, 04:20:40 pm
Copies Blightsteel (and blocks) nicely and can even duplicate Inkwell, although it probably won't block another Inkwell.
7  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SCD]Sewer Nemesis on: June 06, 2011, 08:41:47 am
Wagner,

You keep catching these little details that are so crucial, like the CMC requirement on Dragon Breath.  Unfortunately I am the doofus suggesting these nombos.  Please drink less coffee in the mornings. Good catch.

I guess what he boils down to is another Lord or Extinction style critter, essentially his vanillaness does not inspire.
8  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SCD]Sewer Nemesis on: June 03, 2011, 02:06:18 pm
It's probably preferable to Sutured Ghoul in older style dredge decks and with Dragon Breath it still may playable.  Hermit Druid may have a new toy to play with.

Alliance of Arms

Probably going to be laughed off, but could this see play at all in Oath as a method of giving your opponents creatures?  Would then require a way for you to break the symmetry by killing/using one of your own tokens - but Skullclamp comes to mind.  I guess too much work involved when you could simply use an Orchard.
10  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [COMM] Edric Spymaster of Trest on: June 01, 2011, 02:56:08 pm
I guess in Vintage Elves it/he can replace a Glimpse of Nature for Card draw and he can be tutored with Zenith and Summoner's Pact.  And he pitches to Force if you are splashing Blue (although Forces would be hard to squeeze into an Elves build).
11  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Probe-A-Fiend: A New Potential Gro Deck on: April 28, 2011, 04:28:36 pm
If you agree on the slowness of Regrowth, then consider Noxious Revival, it's less mana intensive (could be free), an instant, has other uses and can feed your Gush engine.
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Multi-color Suicide on: April 28, 2011, 04:23:56 pm
Vedalken Heretic in the above list seems out of place - I guess it's fine but it seems less then optimal.  If the deck is focusing more around Death's Shadow something like Mutagenic Growth is a no mana +4 pump spell for Death's Shadow.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Vintage Infect on: April 19, 2011, 08:50:28 pm
Spoiled from the Godbook

Glistener Elf G
Creature - Elf Warrior (C)
Infect
1/1

Now you can go Monogreen Infect in Vintage! On the play...

Black Lotus, Glistner Elf, Concordant Crossroads, Invigorate, Berserk.

Alternatively on the draw...
Misty Rainforest, Break for Tropical Island, Glistener Elf, Mox Emerald, Concordant Crossroads, Mutagenic Growth, Mutagenic Growth, Exile Spirit Guide, Berserk (Invigorate seems more worth it but trying to show an alternative).

14  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Phyrexian Metamorph on: April 19, 2011, 03:17:42 pm
Mindlock Orb has lurked around the edges of playability, here is a link to a SM Blue Stax possibility deck.  Maybe the Metamorph will make Blue Stax more viable.

15  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Vintage Infect on: April 18, 2011, 04:20:03 pm
That kill for standard that involves Vector Asp doesn't really require both. You can go turn one Swamp, Asp. Turn 2 Forest Groundswell, 3 Mutagenic Growth, make Asp poisonous - win.  Totally bypassing the 4th Mutagenic and Tainted Strike.  If you go 3 Color you can do Goblin Guide and swing at them out of nowhere if you go the Tainted Strike method. But we are talking about Vintage here.

In Vintage it becomes easier with things like, Berserk, Invigorate and now Mutagenic Growth.
16  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Vintage Infect on: March 05, 2011, 11:54:36 am
Groundswell is worth consideration, I would go to add a Lotus petal as further acceleration.  The Rancor's are good but they are more of a long game card advantage engine (and in vintage blue bounce makes the pump and return from graveyard ability irrelevant).
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] GAP - Green Artifact Power on: February 22, 2011, 11:27:38 am
Brainstorm would be nice to shuffle back your Natural Order/Tinker targets but it decreases your creature/artifact count, the only method you have currently is Thirst.  Myr Servitor would give you reusable Skullclamp targets but I think it's too slow, but you may play with it some. Null Rod is my big issue with Skullclamp.  Mox Diamond would certainly be useful in utilizing the extra Cradles that you draw.  Or alternatively rather then playing 4 cradles you could consider Crop Rotation as it would find Academy as necessary.
18  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [mbs] Ichor Wellspring on: February 09, 2011, 10:15:05 pm
Top-secret -enjoyed the blog, even tested the deck a few times. Had a bit of trouble with Null Rod, so would consider a repeal. Crack the Earth makes me crack a smile.
19  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Spine of Ish Sah on: January 22, 2011, 02:37:38 pm
Brain fart on my part, I know the current errata on Transmute (although thanks for the heads up). For some reason I was thinking it put an artifact from your hand into play.
20  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Spine of Ish Sah on: January 22, 2011, 01:29:52 pm
Well if you transmute it wii it return to hand and then you can transmute into it again? Similar to how Master Transmuter can/would work?
21  Eternal Formats / Bazaar-Based Decks / Re: Bloodghasted Ichorid Primer- Looking to the future on: July 16, 2010, 03:55:16 pm
Well after not ever paying the hardcast cost of FKZ, I totally missed on it's cost.  Yes FKZ does cost 4 and is not recursable by Sun Titan.  Please disregard my comments on how Sun Titan can get the FKZ, but my analysis of what Dredge wants to do in games 1 vs games 2/3 is still valid (imho). I am not sure how Sun Titan helps you fight the hate in games 2 & 3, since often times in 2/3 you board out your Dread Returns.
22  Eternal Formats / Bazaar-Based Decks / Re: Bloodghasted Ichorid Primer- Looking to the future on: July 15, 2010, 04:34:26 pm
Sun Titan just seems so ridiculous if it goes off, it gets FKZ and then gets something else during the attack phase such as an extra Baz or a Pithing Needle.  Meadbert, love the list, but I might go more of a toolbox route for the Titans ala Needle. Maybe it's the definition of a win more card in Dredge, but as always Dredge's problem is not game 1 where it overwhelms the opponent but games 2 & 3 where sideboarded graveyard hate can ruin your day - in essence Nature's Claim may be a far better card for Dredge then Sun Titan.
23  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Mind over Temple Bell on: July 06, 2010, 04:17:36 pm
Card count in the original post is off, your list is well over 60.
24  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Realms Uncharted on: March 26, 2010, 10:44:14 am
It's not stated explicitly in the thread but the Art is an Homage to Gifts Ungiven.

Course could be part of a supercycle - the Red and White parts could be really interesting.
25  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Dredge, and Dread Return Targets on: March 19, 2010, 04:31:33 pm
Woodfall Primus does have Trample as an advantage over Terastadon, but agreed Tera is mostly better.
26  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: iPop viable in vintage? on: March 10, 2010, 12:11:21 pm
I don't think that it is especially relevant in Vintage right now, I think that Vintages penchant for Sideboarded Graveyard Hate (some is Maindecked), makes it especially unpalatable.

If your dying for a list with Ill-Gotten Gains, here is a list that took first place with Ill-Gotten Gains (sideboard only).  But I wouldn't describe it as Iggy Pop, just something that contained Ill-Gotten Gains.

27  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Single Card Discussion (Kozilek, Butcher of Truth) on: March 09, 2010, 02:33:55 pm
Jhoira of the Ghitu is another way to get it out a bit quicker, but I don't think it's very viable for Vintage.  But the upside on suspending Kozilek is that it will have haste so if hits the board it need to be dealt with then and there or it's smokestacking the opponent big time - and it does draw it's cards.
28  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Landfall Combo (This needs big time improvement) on: March 09, 2010, 09:49:26 am
Hedron Crab allows more blue, for FoW protection, to stay in color with the Oboro, and you don't have to wait on another turn/attack phase.  If you lose Steppe Lynx it takes you out of your need for White with Enlightented Tutor and then you can go black to Demonic, Vampiric, Seal and run a Will for Recursion.

Sending you a PM on this too Meadbert.
29  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Updating Vengeur Masqué to 2010 on: March 02, 2010, 09:48:26 pm
Make sure you check your rules knowledge on Mask, it may have changed on you considerably.  I am not so sure this is a viable deck anymore.
30  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] Visiting Wizards, Reprints and the Reserved List on: March 02, 2010, 04:11:53 pm
From reading Steve's article it is much more likely that they are going to reprint some Legacy staples then the Power 9.  But when they fully break the barrier, there will be an arguement for the reprinting of power eventually.

I have almost of the cards needed to play most vintage decks, I do view them as an investment - but at the same time I am a player and the reprinting of older cards would open up a wider player base.  It would even contribute to other formats such as cube drafting and EDH.
