Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Increasing Confusion

Increasing Confusion UX
Sorcery Rare Target player puts the top X cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard. If Increasing Confusion was cast from a graveyard, that player puts twice as many cards into his or her graveyard instead. Flashback UX
The Flashback really suits Dragon kills, all you need to do is put it into your graveyard, I still like Oona better (as she deals with Eldrazi better), but for at least there is another consideration. It certainly could have other uses too.

There was even a comment that he might consider cutting 2 of the Sun Titans for Phantasmal Images, I think one replacement at most as you do need to copy the Sun Titan to be effective.
Nice report and I am happy to see such an "extreme" deck win, I didn't see that much "variance" and his opponents were all reasonably solid. This is one of my favorite archetypes and I am glad to see it get a high profile win - unfortunately that probably means more hate making it's way into sideboard and maindeck in the future.

Wagner,
You keep catching these little details that are so crucial, like the CMC requirement on Dragon Breath. Unfortunately I am the doofus suggesting these nombos. Please drink less coffee in the mornings. Good catch.
I guess what he boils down to is another Lord or Extinction style critter, essentially his vanillaness does not inspire.

Vedalken Heretic in the above list seems out of place - I guess it's fine but it seems less then optimal. If the deck is focusing more around Death's Shadow something like Mutagenic Growth is a no mana +4 pump spell for Death's Shadow.

Spoiled from the Godbook
Glistener Elf G Creature - Elf Warrior (C) Infect 1/1
Now you can go Monogreen Infect in Vintage! On the play...
Black Lotus, Glistner Elf, Concordant Crossroads, Invigorate, Berserk.
Alternatively on the draw... Misty Rainforest, Break for Tropical Island, Glistener Elf, Mox Emerald, Concordant Crossroads, Mutagenic Growth, Mutagenic Growth, Exile Spirit Guide, Berserk (Invigorate seems more worth it but trying to show an alternative).

That kill for standard that involves Vector Asp doesn't really require both. You can go turn one Swamp, Asp. Turn 2 Forest Groundswell, 3 Mutagenic Growth, make Asp poisonous - win. Totally bypassing the 4th Mutagenic and Tainted Strike. If you go 3 Color you can do Goblin Guide and swing at them out of nowhere if you go the Tainted Strike method. But we are talking about Vintage here.
In Vintage it becomes easier with things like, Berserk, Invigorate and now Mutagenic Growth.

Groundswell is worth consideration, I would go to add a Lotus petal as further acceleration. The Rancor's are good but they are more of a long game card advantage engine (and in vintage blue bounce makes the pump and return from graveyard ability irrelevant).

Brainstorm would be nice to shuffle back your Natural Order/Tinker targets but it decreases your creature/artifact count, the only method you have currently is Thirst. Myr Servitor would give you reusable Skullclamp targets but I think it's too slow, but you may play with it some. Null Rod is my big issue with Skullclamp. Mox Diamond would certainly be useful in utilizing the extra Cradles that you draw. Or alternatively rather then playing 4 cradles you could consider Crop Rotation as it would find Academy as necessary.

Well after not ever paying the hardcast cost of FKZ, I totally missed on it's cost. Yes FKZ does cost 4 and is not recursable by Sun Titan. Please disregard my comments on how Sun Titan can get the FKZ, but my analysis of what Dredge wants to do in games 1 vs games 2/3 is still valid (imho). I am not sure how Sun Titan helps you fight the hate in games 2 & 3, since often times in 2/3 you board out your Dread Returns.

Sun Titan just seems so ridiculous if it goes off, it gets FKZ and then gets something else during the attack phase such as an extra Baz or a Pithing Needle. Meadbert, love the list, but I might go more of a toolbox route for the Titans ala Needle. Maybe it's the definition of a win more card in Dredge, but as always Dredge's problem is not game 1 where it overwhelms the opponent but games 2 & 3 where sideboarded graveyard hate can ruin your day - in essence Nature's Claim may be a far better card for Dredge then Sun Titan.

Hedron Crab allows more blue, for FoW protection, to stay in color with the Oboro, and you don't have to wait on another turn/attack phase. If you lose Steppe Lynx it takes you out of your need for White with Enlightented Tutor and then you can go black to Demonic, Vampiric, Seal and run a Will for Recursion.
Sending you a PM on this too Meadbert.

From reading Steve's article it is much more likely that they are going to reprint some Legacy staples then the Power 9. But when they fully break the barrier, there will be an arguement for the reprinting of power eventually.
I have almost of the cards needed to play most vintage decks, I do view them as an investment - but at the same time I am a player and the reprinting of older cards would open up a wider player base. It would even contribute to other formats such as cube drafting and EDH.
