Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Vintage and Legacy Championships

The two 1st prizes are roughly the same. I would expect more people to play in the Legacy Championships this year than the Vintage Championship, so perhaps that's why the prize scale is adjusted as it is. However, I wonder which costs Wizards more to produce? I would assume Wizards can acquire cards without much problem. If they don't already have them, most dealers would love to get on Wizards good side by providing cheap Duals. I honestly have no idea how much it costs Wizards to commission art, but it seems like it would be more than 40x Duals.

Why Seal over Disenchant? Seal gets around a flipped Erayo, Sphere of Resistance, and Chalice at 2 (if in played). It is also fetchable via Enlightened Tutor. It is rare that the information you give your opponent by playing Seal will help them in any significant way. The fact that it can be hit with Naturalize isn't a good argument since few opponents will be playing Disenchant effects against a deck with very few targets (this one). If they bounce it you can just play it again without much problem. On another note, what were your results with Hide? I like playing: 1x Enlightened Tutor 2x Seal of Cleansing 1x Hide/Seek Have you been replacing the Seals as well?

A spectating Brian Demars explains to him how he could have killed the Chalice and possibly won That's really too bad because he also made a play mistake against me that may have cost him the match. He seemed to sort of storm off at the end - I don't think he was very happy with the tourny. I hope he comes back! If anybody sees him (Jeremy Rutherford) make sure you tell him to keep showing up . He's a good player, but simply things have cost him. That goes for the rest of you as well! You all need to keep coming. I love having this incredibly skilled environment (even though it makes it very difficult to win ). But seriously, no more Bloodmoon.

Awesome tournament despite the turnout and despite Blood Moon (come on now! Blood Moon?! What a stupid card ). I think dropping the price a bit might be a good idea - but I think you're right about being too good, everybody there today had a chance of winning. It scares away the casual folk. That or we just need to convert more people into Legacy lovers. Time for my match breakdown and the amazing story of how I went 2-2 and made top 4. I was playing UGW Thresh Round 1I play vs B/W Confidant and win in 2 close games. The poor deck died to its namesake both games (Dark Confidant). Tough luck. 1-0 Round 2I play vs Burn. This is a surprisingly hard match. Maybe he just had a good version against Thresh? I don't remember it usually being this close. Game 1 I won due 100% to Worship being in my opening hand. Game 2 I got quickly burnt out. Game 3 I found Worship again and in a close game found a win. There was a lot of luck involved with winning this match. 2-0 Round 3I play vs Goblins and my deck craps all over me. Game 1 I win without too much trouble. Game 2 I mull to 4!!!! Due to 0 (zero) land in all the other hands. Yuk. That is over fast. Game 3 I look at my hand and am very sad to see a lone Tundra with no cantrips. That has to go. I mull to 6 and lose to Blood Moon - I can't find my forest. Round 4I play vs WW/u and get blown out. In none of the games I played against Paul did I feel like I had control of the game, it was nasty. Game 1 I lose to Mother of Runes giving his creatures protection. Game 2 I lose to Meddling Mage on Swords while I continue to draw into 3 . This is not a good match-up for me. (especially if Ramosian Sergeant stays on the table - which it did) Top 4Going 2-2 I was very happy to see I made it into 4th place! Yay! I didn't really mind playing Paul again since I at least got $10 for my efforts. And again I lost 2-0. Well, time to switch to Train Wreck. Thanks to Dan for putting this thing on! And excellent sportsmanship in your round against KC. You're an asset to Legacy. Best of luck to all at RIW! Lets show them what our format can do.

Oh shit, I didn't even think about Grad parties - is anybody else going to get hit by them? I hope I'll be able to get there, I'm not actually sure who's party is that day... hmmm. I have a terrible memory, what time have these things been ending? Maybe I can just go to the parties late. Good luck to all, and see you in July! Ah crap, now I have to worry about Stax too We are starting to get one weird metagame.

Angel Stompy (kilz) High Tide (me)

Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Update on the R_E case
|

From the Elf himself - My thanks again to the administrators, who agreed to post this update.
Unless anyone has been living under a rock for the past 11 weeks, we're all aware that Wizards of the Coast initiated legal action against me and ten unknown entities on January 19th. A news announcement on February 18th updated the situation.
I'm here to announce that earlier this week, Wizards and I signed a settlement agreement which will end the legal action being taken against me. I'm not allowed to discuss the specific terms of the agreement. However, you will notice obvious changes in my unofficial roles on this website. Please note my signature, below. I'm no longer interested in hearing any information about Wizards' products that aren't already publicly available. I'll continue to be a moderator, and I'll continue to be an active member of MTG Salvation.
I'm not here to badmouth anyone and I'm happy to put this behind me. I continue to appreciate Wizards for putting out a game that I've enjoyed for almost ten years, and hope to enjoy for many more.
A humongous, enthusiastic, heartfelt thanks goes out to Jay Shergill (Haloscope on the forums) for his involvement in this case. My wife and I can't thank him enough for all the time and effort he put into drafting documents, explaining legal terms to me, and negotiating in my defense. He could have very well spent that time and energy taking a paying client, or getting caught up on sleep! I'm so thankful to Jay for appearing during a dark and bewildering time for me, and offering his competent help. It was invaluable to have a lawyer on my side who not only understood the game and company who makes it, but also already knew about me and the history behind the case. I have no idea where this would have gone if I hadn't found him. Thank you, Jay!
Thank you also to every single person who supported me with words of encouragement, speaking out on forums and petitions for what they felt was right, writing or emailing those involved, and sending thoughts and prayers for my family and I in the past 11 weeks. I may have been publicly near silent since it all began, but you can bet I was reading every single post, PM, email, IM, and signature that was made on the topic. Thank you everyone!
You'll see me around the forums on a more regular basis again, and Jay is willing to help answer questions in this thread, should there be any.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=36468Glad to see it's all over. I hope things can get back to normal for Daron and his family.

Thanks for putting it on, you guys are awesome. But seriously, that top 8 (and the meta there) is so freaking wacky. I'm glad Life won, that has always been a favorite of mine - and the WW list is also nice, I have something with a few similarities in the works . I'm also glad at least one Thresh deck made it past the swiss, I wasn't sure if it would happen. Again, thanks for putting this on P.S. So when's the next 1.5 Master?
