1  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Auratog + Reality Acid on: August 12, 2007, 09:50:07 pm
If I sacrifice reality acid to auratog's ability which resolves first the +2/+2 or the reality acid destruction trigger?

Auratog
Card Type:    Creature - Atog
P/T:    1/2
Rules Text (Oracle):    Sacrifice an enchantment: Auratog gets +2/+2 until end of turn.

Reality Acid
Card Type:    Enchantment - Aura
Rules Text (Oracle):    Enchant permanent
Vanishing 3 (This permanent comes into play with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When the last is removed, sacrifice it.)
When Reality Acid leaves play, enchanted permanent's controller sacrifices it.

Outside of multiplayer its just a copy of Lost order of Jarkeld
3  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Clone Frog on: May 20, 2006, 08:30:18 pm
As Clone Frog comes into play, choose a non-legendary creature.
Clone Frog comes into play as the chosen creature until end of turn and gains "When Clone Frog comes into play, if its in play, All creatures become a copy of that creature until end of turn."

This accomplishes what your looking for which is to allow a chance for a 0/0 frog to die before the copying effect will kill everything.  Its incredibly ugly and awkward though.  I'm sure theres a way to clean it up.

Return to play with power and toughness equal to?

I agree it will be on the new cardface.  Printing it on the old cardface is just way too much trouble.  I also think it will be legal in standard because thats too much of a market to skip, routines be damned.

They will also probably look at sales as a way to gauge whether they want to change from 3 sets/year to 4/year.

I don't think summoning sickness is a game term anymore, so you cant use it as part of rules text.

"As you play [cardname], secretly choose a number."

Is there a reason you want the number to be chosen when you play the card rather than on resolution?

Just change that line to "Secretly choose a number" to make it choose on resolution.

You could secretly choose a number like menacing ogre.

seems just red to me given the similarity to breaking point.

Beacon of Immortality does almost the same thing minus the wrath interaction.  Its definitely white too.

Cascading this still doesn't do anything more than showing someone ethereal haze in your hand, and that costs 0.
13  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Cropwarden's Peace on: September 17, 2005, 10:54:09 pm
This card needs to cantrip or offer some sort of recursion to be playable in any format.  The multiplayer use of playing it to divert creatures can be accomplished by just showing them a fog style card in your hand, and you aren't down the card in that case.  Its not strictly better but its many times more efficient.  Ethereal haze is even arcane at the same CC.

Something like sac a land to return from graveyard to hand, if you have more cards during upkeep pay 2 to return to hand etc.
14  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Arithmancy (I swiped the name for a new card) on: September 11, 2005, 01:12:58 am
I think this is undercosted at 2W.  Counsel of the Soratami costs 2U and draws 2 cards, which this can pretty much always beat, and with setup this is huge.
15  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Gift of Jade on: September 02, 2005, 03:33:29 pm
Generally speaking test of faith is strictly better for 3 damage or less, and still competitive at higher numbers because the life loss will add up.  Test of faith can save a creature from up to 6 damage since the +1/+1 counters are added immediately.

I think you can cost this safely at 1W
16  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Gift of Jade on: September 02, 2005, 02:05:32 am
I think that you could cost this a lot less when you compare it to test of faith.

Maybe make it so it cant be the target of activated or triggered abilities, to mirror the countering effect?
18  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / New Wrath of God on: October 04, 2004, 01:54:05 am
Referencing "creature cards" seems like it can cause a lot of confusion to me.

How does this interact with cards like soul sculptor?  Is a creature still a creature card after being turned into an enchantment?  What about enchantments animated into creatures?

This would destroy a clone of a token but not the token correct?
What happens to a clone of an artifact that was animated with animate artifact?  Is it still creature card?
19  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Mirage Spirit Cycle on: September 16, 2004, 04:36:14 am
The green one seems like it accelerates mana by too much.

Turn 1 forest, play treekeeper
Turn 2 mirage adding 1 mana, tap forest for G, tap treekeeper for G, Sac mirage for GG, remove mirage for 1 mana.  (6 total)
If both lands are mirages its 8 total.

Maybe change it to creature pump?  Like tap for +1/+1 and sac for +2/+2.  Sacing the lands allows you to generate mana already so making even more off it seems dangerous.

Avatar of will is opponents hand so it can be in your hand and the condition can be met, this is different.  I was under the impression you had to pay the costs before you moved the spell onto the stack, and thus out of your hand.

It does work off future sight for sure.
21  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Consumption cycle on: March 18, 2004, 10:46:41 pm
Consume Anger is confusing when the target for the power pump is not controlled by the caster of Consume anger.  I do not believe it will force your opponent to sacrifice the target of the power pump under the current wording, but most people will assume that it does.
22  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Ties on: February 19, 2004, 10:24:53 pm
With the current wording what happens if 2 or more players are tied for the most creatures?
