I am not running this event, I am just copy/pasting the announcement from our local site. It would be nice to see some more Americans at this one!

8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: What are the most powerful/viable cards that you think are underplayed? on: August 06, 2008, 06:14:44 am
Thanks for clearing things up Dave. It seems like there are 2 sides to this story, and the judges were not treating you fairly or respectfully, which is understandably why you were upset. It is awesome for players to pick up our format, and I hope to see you around again.
9  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: What are the most powerful/viable cards that you think are underplayed? on: August 05, 2008, 03:32:55 pm
I believe we are talking about a different match or day. The one I saw was him at 0-2 playing against my friend playing Oath, round 3 on Sunday, and his opponent was present and not late. He was upset over his opponent calling a judge on him when he drew his card for turn on his opponent's main phase. Dave asked if he was done, and his opponent responded, "No, Not Yet", and Dave drew his card for turn (clearly a misunderstanding). His opponent then called the judge on him. There is a full account of the events on the SCG forums.

In this incident, he did yell and swear. I was sitting 2 or 3 seats away. Everyone around was surprised he didn't get DQed. I think Rich Shay was sitting near them as well.

I had no clue about that run in with the judges during another round. I would also be upset if a judge said I had made a call when I clearly had not.

You should have seen him yelling at his opponent, and swearing at the judges on Sunday. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

Jerry Yang won the Sunday Vintage tournament with his Panoptic Mirror, Serra Sphinx, and Savor the Moment deck on Sunday.  He even beat David Williams (yes THE David Williams) playing TKs Pitch Long list in that event.

HE WON??? I laughed so hard when I saw him play Panoptic Mirror Time walk on my friend who was playing goblins. Also, David Williams was not cool.

Nice meeting you. Congrats on the finish! I really hate seeing Misdirection when I am baiting a force Razz.
13  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Worldgorger Dragon Combo -- Still Viable? on: July 29, 2008, 05:39:48 pm
...sigh, I didn't end up going to the tournament but there were 2 WGDX decks in the top 8. One of them made finals.

1 Dragon made top 8. It made it to the quarters. He didn't post a report, and he lost to Drain Tendrils in T4.
14  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Buffalo and Vintage on: July 03, 2008, 12:38:10 pm
They stopped posting the tourneys and results on TMD because Americans almost never made the trip up, except Paul Mastriano a few times. MTGOntario is all they need to get really good numbers, as almost all Ontario players are on the site. We have gotten 60+ a few times, you can expect most events to be around 30-50 people, although the one last weekend didn't go too well because it was a long weekend and many people were out of town. If you have any more questions about the events or area, send me a PM.

Untouchables in Mississauga, no question. He runs great tourneys with really good prize structures. There is a 1k event coming up in July.

Be warned that Untouchables does run its own B&R list.

That is not true. Untouchables runs regular B/R list

18  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: 2008 Vintage Championships in Chicago? on 8/2 on: June 19, 2008, 08:56:18 am
Did anyone else notice that the Vintage event starts at 11, then the Legacy at 3. I was excited to play both, but it looks like you need to make the decision to drop 3 rounds in Sad, what do you do if you are 2-1? Is there anyone to contact about possibly changing this?
19  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Worldgorger Dragon Combo -- Still Viable? on: June 17, 2008, 09:38:20 am
I think you guys are forgetting that with cards like Damping Matrix, Cursed Totem and Chalice is that when the Dragon comes into play, they get removed, which gives your opponent an opportunity to Extirpate or Macabre your win condition or Dragon. I ran into the same problem a few years ago when i was playing Defense Grid in the sideboard. Also, Chalice comes back with 0 counters on it once it goes RFG and returns.

I am stopping till the reset, unfortunate because I just started 3 weeks ago. I might start playing again when it resets, I really hope they patch it.

It was an awesome event. We got 3 more weeks with this gauntlet before the B and R takes over.

After my initial freak out and my planning on how to sell my collection, I have decided to take it as it comes.

They may have taken out the pillar of most blue decks, but this gives us a great open format to innovate. I am sure blue will not be dead, they just need a new direction.

This means that our group might not come down. Before we got to do Legacy and Vintage, and now it is one or the other, or two trips.

This is very upsetting as I was in the middle of planning my trip to Gencon.
28  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Seen Any Good Movies Lately? on: May 16, 2008, 11:24:21 am
Obviously everyone loved Iron Man, but a movie I've really enjoyed this year that's likely to fall through most peoples' cracks is In Bruges, an independent film starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes.  Farrell and Gleeson are a couple of hitmen sent to the city of Bruges in Belgium by Fiennes for some unknown reason.  I went into the film expecting a fairly generic action movie with some good deadpan British humor, but I got something that was much much better. I highly recommend it.

I loved this movie. For some reason it reminded me of Boondock Saints, and someone else said the same when they walked out of the theater.
29  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Ordering from CCGHouse.com Went Badly on: May 14, 2008, 11:07:34 am
Weird. I have never had this problem on ebay, I was worried about it when I pre-ordered 50 Painter's, but they all came, as have my cards in the past, like Sowers. I do pre-sales on ebay because I seem to get my stuff.

I am heading down there at the end of August, I hope to make it out to some Vintage/Legacy events.
