The videos are wonderful on the site. I watched four pages of them last night. Great job, vintage has gone a long way since I've last been to a tournament.
2  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: GW 2K11 on: March 06, 2012, 09:06:11 pm
It shuts down all major strategies in vintage..from tinker, to yawmoths will, oath, etc. Thats why i thought it would be better as a maindeck card that locks the game down, much like null rod or chalice for example.
3  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: GW 2K11 on: March 05, 2012, 10:15:38 pm
I am wondering why there isnt any grafdiggers cage in the past few lists maindeck? That card does so much vs most of the field..wouldn't it just be better in the main?
4  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Grand Finale LMV 2 - ˇMadrid Best Players for a Lotus! on: October 18, 2009, 03:30:28 pm
I wonder how good Three wishes was in the Tezz deck. It seems like a good card advantage, but is it better than Dark Confidant? The quicken deck really seems odd too, I love seeing top 8s like this that have good experimentation in deck techs.
5  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Icon 10-10 report - double win - vroman on: October 11, 2009, 02:45:54 pm
Nice report and win.  But, more victories on the back of Time Vault should start waking people up.  I hope.

I sold my Time Vault (beta) when I couldn't use the Fussilade/Time Vault combo in Gifts anymore. Now I have been itching to get one back and I hope you're right so I don't have to rebuy the Beta Vault.
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Icon 10-10 report - double win - vroman on: October 11, 2009, 12:56:30 pm
So you're actually playing a deck with Force of wills now?  Wink
The list looks very tight, thanks for the report and list details in the open forum. I have been following the thread closely since it was opened.

I am really upset with myself for not looking at the photos of the tournament sooner. There was a lot of sick pimp cards on display, I really wish I had enough bread to get my hands on that! And ditto on that Force of will, it is beautiful. I really like the Tezz alteration also.
8  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] The COMPLETE Vintage Checklist! on: October 07, 2009, 06:12:16 am
One thing you might consider:  it may be useful to find a different way to organize the information so that it is more accessible to players who are building a specific deck.  For instance, instead of organizing the cards by set one could organize them by archetype:  Mana Drain, Workshop, Fish, Bazaar, etc.

For example:  in the case of Mana Drain decks one could list all of the cards that get played in the maindeck of decks that play Drains and then distinguish the maindeck cards from the ones that get played in the sideboard.  It would even be possible to denote what cards are intended for use against other popular stratagies.

A Mana Drain player would not only be able to research what other successful Mana Drain players have recently used--but they could also look at the Stax section to research what cards Stax players are likely to use after sideboarding.  It might be a very good tool for new players who are trying to learn the ropes and make sense of the extremely complicated ways that decks interact with one another.

I Think this is an excellent suggestion. It gives a big source of information to people new to Vintage to know what cards to test against in popular sideboards as well as what cards they need. Building up a Vintage deck is quite the daunting task, but once you do it it's rewarding and profitable for the future worth of the cards. Maybe even hint to new players what cards they should look to get first through a listed order so they can see they should get the four force of wills, then the fetchlands, then the drains, then power, etc, for example so they don't just blow 400.00$ on a mox emerald the first card they get. I also think there should be another Mana Drain article written by Mr. Demars ::cough cough:::.
Anyway, I liked the list and I was surprised some drama came out of the article. Thanks again, Steve.
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: RIW SANCTIONED FOR A MOX, WHO WOULD COME? on: October 05, 2009, 08:19:34 am
If I lived anywhere remotely near this area, I would come in a heart beat and play anything type of deck I would be able to assemble (I sold my power to Myriad in 2007). I think this is very good for the format when you have non-proxy events/ Sanctioned events from time to time. I can't wait to see the results of this tournament, so I hope a lot of people are going to show!
10  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] The COMPLETE Vintage Checklist! on: October 05, 2009, 08:15:07 am
Very neat article, it was very helpful to actually have a list you can print and refer to. I would have liked to have heard more about those old magazines though. I wish I still had mine lying around the house but they were long gone after 1996.

I'd like to see the deck lists for this event, if anyone has them.
Thanks!
12  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Zendikar boosters include Ancestral Recall? on: September 26, 2009, 01:58:58 pm
I'm glad I preordered two booster boxes of this set a few weeks ago. The prices for these things are going off the roof on some sites and they are quickly becoming Ebay lottery tickets. Hopefully I will get some new p9 in mine!
13  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Rumors/Previews/mtg.com articles on: September 26, 2009, 01:47:35 pm
The prices for these booster boxes is going out of control. I have seen some sites selling the booster boxes for up to and over 120.00$. SCG is already up to 110.00$, but when I bought two boxes from them three weeks ago the price was only 89$. I just hope I get an Ancestral Recall in my booster boxes ! lol. Wink

A second elves deck makes a top 8 in Vintage?
15  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Xtreme Games Mox Ruby Tournament 11/23 on: December 05, 2008, 08:01:37 am
Skullclamp looks insane in that elves list.

ELVES in a top 8, haha.
16  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Shards Limited on: October 20, 2008, 12:13:42 pm
Yeah, black is pretty suckalicious. I love this format though, it's a whole lot of fun. I drafted a GRW deck the other day with huge beats and the 2R sorcery that does damage to creature or player equal to one of your creatures power. The creatures in blue seem to suck too.

17  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [TO Report] ELD's Mox XIII on: May 01, 2008, 08:18:11 am
Those Mana Drains are totally awesome. I would be content with a full set of ELD Proxies in my deck!
18  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Cloverfield on: January 24, 2008, 01:04:54 pm
Godzilla rip off. Enough said.

Can't anybody write and develop a new mainstream film idea? Stealing Japanese films and adding hand held camera angles does not make a new exciting film for me.

No Country For Old Men, however, was good.
19  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: 2007 Vintage World Championship Decks on: January 24, 2008, 01:02:47 pm
This is seriously one of the coolest ideas I have ever seen on this site. I wish you best of luck with the project. I hope you stay dedicated to the job and won't give up.

Awesome!
20  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Re: Necro Deck. on: December 06, 2007, 10:40:45 am
Keep in mind that if you want to play a broken combo deck with Necropotence, you can always play old school Trix too. Four sol rings, Vampiric tutors, Consultations, etc. You'd even get to play with FOW back up. Whenever I play casual I take out a Trix deck.

Don't play Tinker.dec please...SO annoying.
21  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Football on: October 08, 2007, 11:43:47 pm
Exactly, they did play like crap, and they still won the game. They're one of the big three 5-0 teams tonight after playing like crap. The Bills are just horrible.

I will give it to the Bills for putting up a fight though. I was expecting a total ass beating tonight.

Patriots are going to crush Dallas next week though. Romo is going to be thinking about tonight's game and blow it.
22  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Football on: October 08, 2007, 11:38:36 pm
Dallas is a fraud? What team throws 6 picks in one game and still has the strategy and heart to still win by one point and go 5-0? Oh, yeah, that's Dallas. What a fraud. The bills should have crushed Dallas by a huge spread after so many interceptions. They even returned a kick off for a touchdown!  Bills should have had that game by at least 10. What do they have to do to win?! This loss is going to crush their spirits. If anything, this game proves how incredibly resilient the Cowboys are.

You know what's crap? Calling time out with one second left when the ball is about to be snapped on a field goal. That rule is going out the window next season.
23  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Re: Ice Age Block Event on: September 01, 2007, 09:56:38 pm
What did these crazy Ice Age decks look like? I am more than curious!

This reminds me of ripping boosters back when I started playing when Ice Age was out (without Snap, of course).
24  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Transformers on: July 03, 2007, 08:49:48 am
I've already seen it four times since I am a projectionist at a big name theater company. Seriously, check it out. I thought it might be over hyped, but it was pretty good.
25  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / The best way to sell my cards? on: July 02, 2007, 11:59:13 am
Greetings all Mana Drainers,

I have recently hit a financial problem in my life that has lead me to selling my expensive Vintage cards. I would like to know what you guys think is the best way to do this? Should I Ebay the cards in seperate auctions? I am getting rid of the following:

4 Mana Drains *one is Italian*

NM UL Ancestral Recall

NM UL Mox Ruby

Beta Mox Pearl

NM UL Mox Jet

HP Bazaar of Baghdad

Good Condition Chains of Mephistopheles

NM Library of Alexandria

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is even interested here, let me know, I will send you pics of the cards in question.
26  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] How to GroAtog in the Pouring Rain on: June 18, 2007, 09:11:13 pm
You also need to remember that a red splash is very important after game one in the Mirror match. You get access to REBs and, if you want, pyroblast to combat an opposing Gush. Think of it this way, if your opponent has REB in the sideboard and you don
t for the mirror, you're going to be frustrated. You can also put in cards like Shattering Spree/Rack and Ruin versus Stax, not just Artifact Mutation.

I, for one, am really glad for the new B&R list. It seems like we may have a less Yawgmoth's Will dominated metagame in the future. We get to see more Stax decks, Flash, Fish, and Bomberman.
27  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia 4 Mox Jet Results Pics Lists! HULK FLASH WINS! on: June 06, 2007, 07:10:14 pm
I still like these results posts the best. Look at all the amazing close up pics we get from you guys! Nice job! I really like that proxied Recall. Smokin'.
28  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Drains for Sapphire on: June 06, 2007, 10:01:56 am
If someone gave me $300 and an eBay account, I would give them 3 English Drains and an Italian one. I'm not making this up; check the completed listing on eBay. SCG prices and eBay buy it now means absolutely nothing. What does mean something is what other people have paid last week on eBay.

I wasn't saying I don't trust your knowledge. That is why I asked for help.  Wink
I'm happy that you posted. I thought Drains were worth a lot more because of the costs on Star City. Like I said I have a Library too, and other stuff like DCI vampiric Tutor Foil, etc.
29  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Drains for Sapphire on: June 06, 2007, 09:52:26 am
I was going by the Star City games price of 130.00 for the English Drains. I just noticed the English ones on Ebay are going for 90-97$ each with Buy it now. I wasn't sure about the value of Mana Drains since I kept seeing different things. I guess Star City Games really over shoots the value of Drains (140.00?!) , but their UL sapphire goes for around 420$?

Either way, I do have other stuff to add for the trade, if anyone is interested. Library of Alexandria comes to mind as a card I don't use but own. I can also pay the left over cost with money. My Drains just sit in my binder and I would much rather have the last Mox I need.
30  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Drains for Sapphire on: June 06, 2007, 09:07:11 am
Does anyone know if it is reasonable to trade anyway 4 Mana Drains (One is Italian) for a Mox Sapphire? I don't feel the need for my Drains anymore and I would like to complete my Mox collection. All the cards are NM and I can send pics when my Girlfriend comes home with her digital camera. Is this a reasonable deal for a trade? I appreciate any experienced trader's opinion.

I have traded away my two Grim Tutors and Workshop for an NM Ancestral Recall to Necropotenza. I am sure he would be more than willing to back me up as someone that is trust worthy.
