1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: I have a problem with a deck Idea please any input? on: September 27, 2007, 02:53:57 pm
I think this works, you sac Narcomoeba to Altar of Dementia, than when nacromoeba goes into the yard he comes back, than you just keep doing it until your opponent is milled. If I'm wrong please let me know.
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / I have a problem with a deck Idea please any input? on: September 27, 2007, 02:24:30 pm
This is a combo deck that uses the following cards:

Narcomoeba-1u
Flying
When Narcomoeba is put into your graveyard from your library, you may put it into play.
1/1

Alatar of Dementia-2
Sacrifice a creature: Target player puts a number of cards equal to the sacrificed creature's power from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard.

Caller of the Claw-2g
Flash
When Caller of the Claw comes into play, put a 2/2 green Bear creature token into play for each nontoken creature put into your graveyard from play this turn.

Skullclamp-1
Equipped creature gets +1/-1.
When equipped creature is put into a graveyard, draw two cards.
Equip 1 (1: Attach to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery. This card comes into play unattached and stays in play if the creature leaves play.)

Im sure everyone now gets the point, I just dont have a clue of how to bring it all together there are just so many cards this deck can use as far as draw/disruption goes. I really dont know if clamp is necessary or not, and I do hate using cards that gets needled  . The reason I'm posting this is to bring Alatar/Narcomoeba to everyones attention. Caller of the claw was just a neat idea Vrs. Gaea's Blessing. Well thats it sorry if i wasted anyones time! >.<

Someone sent me a message via myspace about stroke and MissD, I would like to note that when you "go off" you can pretty much use staff to draw your deck so its not impossile to have 4 FOW back up.
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / key stroke on: August 09, 2007, 05:56:50 pm
Cute name for a deck eh?
mana:
        4 Mishra's Workshop
1 Mana Vault  /grim monolith some how both?
        1 mana crypt
        1 Sol Ring
        1 Black Lotus
        1 Mox Sapphire
         1 Mox Ruby
        1 Mox Pearl
        1 Mox Jet
        1 Mox Emerald
        1 Tolarian Academy
        4 Glimmervoid
        4 Seat of the Synod
        2 Gilded Lotus

        tools/combo
        3 Staff of Domination
        4 Metalworker
        4 Voltaic Key
        2 Stroke of Genius

       draw/ tutors

        1 Mystical Tutor
        1 Tinker
        1 Time Walk
        1 Ancestral Recall
        4 Thirst for Knowledge

         disruption
        2 Mindslaver
        3 Sundering Titan
        2 Hurkyl's Recall
        4 Remand
        4 Force of Will

I’m sure you al know what direction I'm going with as far as this deck is concerned. Any input? I was doing some testing with it, on a great draw you can win turn two with this which seems ok. I’m looking for cards to cut though; I love slaver but is it necessary? Or gilded lotus for that matter. I like the fact that you don’t have to combo out to win, I mean you can drop a 7/10 or a slaver either if which would ruin someone’s day. A friend asked me why I threw in remands so I might as well explain it on here, I love remands with all this extra potential mana that you get. For instance during play tested I casted a mindslaver my opponent mana drained it, instand of remanding the drain I remanded the slaver, this way my opponent lost their drain while in reality lost nothing, I got to recast mindslaver that turn as well. Hurkyls recall as you might have guessed H.recall is in the deck to return null rods and needles back to your opponent hand, not to mention save your own stuff if needed. I have been able to play around cards such as energy flux. I haven’t bothered creating a side board yet because I really don’t know how vintage looks like just yet; new decks will pop up left and right, so this is just a concept idea don’t be too critical!
5  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: whip me, beat me, feed me ice cream on: January 29, 2007, 06:19:32 pm
The deck needs a win condtion pure and simple, a friend said to use the red akroma, cause well she can't be stped or bonced/taped by blue spells, feel free to try her out I'm sure if she hits that would be the GG though.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / I HATE YOU! on: January 28, 2007, 11:11:49 pm
Yeah another hate deck that shows promise an earlier post inspired it.
Well here it goes

BEAR DOWN! (The well oiled machine)

SB:  4 Cabal Therapy
SB:  3 Putrefy
 SB:  4 Pithing Needle

MANA
        1 Strip Mine
        3 Wasteland
        3 Forest
        3 Swamp
        2 Polluted Delta
        2 Wooded Foothills
        4 Bayou
        3 Riftstone Portal

Engine/draw/tutors
         1 Stinkweed Imp
         1 Demonic Tutor
         1 Krovikan Horror
         4 Squee, Goblin Nabob
         4 Bazaar of Baghdad
         4 Dark Confidant

Disruption
        1 Darkblast
        3 Seal of Primordium
        4 Ground Seal
        4 Xantid Swarm
        4 Duress
        3 Null Rod

The GG
        2 Zombie Infestation
        3 Bearscape

I just see so much promise here, it hates everything even things that hate it! Seal kills needle which would stop this deck dead in its tracks

I like the ground seal, it shuts down dragon, slaver (kind of) it also stops the crypts that would own this deck.

Could use help with the SB though.I'm thinking of hidden gibbions.
Before commenting on this deck gold fish it, it’s a ton of fun! -the bob

More content, like how it performs in common matchups, is a requirement. Please add some or this thread will be closed.

Break down.

Its not really 7/10 it looks like dragon but its not either. I love dragons engine so much that I wanted to find another deck to abuse it that wouldn’t lose to hate as much as dragon does. Although this would lose to dragon I’m pretty sure, at least game one but game 2 is stp and seals come in and it’s a whole new ball game. Before you ask “well why don’t you have DSC!!”  This deck can’t protect him pure and simple where as it doesn’t matter if you cant protect the 7/10 cause chances are if he came down your going to win in the long run.

The engine is pretty simple I;m sure just about everyone has seen or played dragon.
I needed away to deal with fish so the Trisk is here for those littlins.
Ah the no FOW well I’m not playing that much blue to want to have force in my deck, and the blue cards I have well I MUCH rather cast them.

I love intutions in this deck, lets me run those random one ofs you see in the deck like COW, Trisk and tormod’s crypt. I tried thirst 1st and that didn’t work out for me at all.
Now as far as the 2 cards that dredges, well that’s mainly to abuse your s/b cards like bearscape. BEARSCAPE???? Yup that’s to stop random hate in peoples deck like Extirpate, game two if it happens, ok you got it, I’ll just dump everything in my yard and make dudes. That’s why the pithing needle is in the s/b to turn off crypt.

Well that’s the deck hope you find it interesting.
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 28, 2007, 05:04:23 pm
I don't like the H/S because there are other cards that are more consitant that do a better job for less mana, seal, stp etc. and the tombs has been fixing mana problems I was having.
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: whip me, beat me, feed me ice cream on: January 28, 2007, 04:59:30 pm
Yeah I know but he is quite awful. Well I dunno maybe if he could fly instead of trample cause thats not really too good.
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: whip me, beat me, feed me ice cream on: January 28, 2007, 04:40:53 pm
Ok 1st off I love this deck, the ONLY problem I see is not having a good win condtion, I ran Charbelcher in mine with main deck blood moons 4 deuls, being my mountains, with the engine you can stack your deck. This didnt work all the time so yeah. I would love to play it if there was like a white morphling or something.
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 28, 2007, 04:23:44 pm
Yeah again I'm not liking the H&S but I have changed the mana base to have factorys and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

        1 Mox pearl/ruby
        3 Plateau
        2 Badlands
        2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
        4 Mishra's Factory
        1 Wooded Foothills
        4 Bloodstained Mire
        1 Strip Mine
        4 Wasteland
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] Charmer on: January 27, 2007, 09:08:59 pm
You can respond to thw welder or dragon going off with Extirpate cant you? I thought it was an instant, if you hit dragon with it, Im pretty sure the dragon player cant win, and if you hit the slaver in drain slaver they can't lock you.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] Charmer on: January 27, 2007, 06:05:10 pm
Quote
Why Extirpate, what are your targets?  In a deck very low on good cards to force through if you take counters or few ways to complement the strategy, isn't Crypt 100x better?

Crypt is a one time deal, where as if say I would make you discard a force of will or a welder, I can RFG all of them from the game.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] Charmer on: January 27, 2007, 05:46:29 pm
Sure go nuts DSC is always good. Maybe Jesus? Go old school control, or even the stick may be worth checking out depending what you can imprint on it.
15  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Planar chaos Spoiler : Imp's Mischief on: January 27, 2007, 05:44:17 pm
Quote
Both Misdirection and Divert, which is not very good, are both much better than this card.  Black, as used in this format, is fundamentally an aggressive color.  Unlike blue or white, it is not suited to control or utility; it plays broken tutors, rituals, and card draw to win the game, regardless of the deck that it's in.  Black decks do not ever want to have to keep two mana open, one of which is likely very vulnerable to Wasteland and should be protected at all costs, in order to acchieve an effect that is only better than Counterspell if an opponent has Recall.  I'm saying, bluntly, that it will never be used, and while I don't want to get emotional, I am frustrated with everyone's ballyhooing of terrible black cards in Time Spiral.  Neither the black Misdirection nor the black Walk will ever be used; saying that they will be used in a test deck somewhere is a disingenous dodge at best.

I don't believe you know what you’re talking about, yes Misdirection isn't the best blue card ever, but its meant to PUSH spells through, like with fish decks where you’re not trying to counter everything but your trying to get your stuff on the table. Now in a  mono black deck aggro deck I can see Imps' Mischief working out fairly well , its not a counter but it will help you push your shade or whatever you feel like winning with through. Don’t just say X card is bad and criticize people for having an open mind.
16  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] Charmer on: January 27, 2007, 05:30:58 pm
I dont like Dimir Cutpurse at all, if your going that route i would sudjest maybe finkel? Also, how do you win? I dont see those 8 dudes taking you all the way.
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 27, 2007, 04:58:22 pm
I'm not really liking the hide and seek to much. I looked into it.

Oracle text: Put target artifact or enchantment on the bottom of its owner's library.
//
Search target opponent's library for a card and remove that card from the game. You gain life equal to its converted mana cost. Then that player shuffles his or her library.

So ok it deals with oath, kinda and DSC. But other than that I can't see to many uses.
As far as meta game goes, I'm in the midwest, chicago, lots of control.
18  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 26, 2007, 04:55:29 am
Ok so what ill do is cut the minors for COW, and the three slots can be 3 tutors.

Ok I came up with this looks solid.

//NAME: Untitled Deck
        22mana:
        1 Mox Jet
        4 Scrubland
        2 Plateau
        4 Badlands
        2 Wooded Foothills
        4 Bloodstained Mire
        1 Strip Mine
        4 Wasteland

Disruption:
        4 Duress
        2 Cabal Therapy
        4 Red Elemental Blast
        3 Null Rod
        2 Swords to Plowshares
        2 Orim's Chant
        2 Crucible of Worlds
        2 Gorilla Shaman

Draw/ Tutors:
        4 Dark Confidant
        1 Vampiric Tutor
        1 Imperial Seal
        1 Demonic Tutor

Men:
        4 grunt
        2 Savannah Lions
        2 Isamaru, Hound of Konda
        2 Gorilla Shaman
        2 Withered Wretch

Sidboard:15
SB:  2 Orim's Chant
SB:  3 Chalice of the Void
SB:  1 Cabal Therapy
SB:  2 Pyroblast
SB:  2 Rack and Ruin
SB:  4 Seal of Cleansing
SB:  2 Swords to Plowshares

18 creatures in this deck I don’t know if that’s enough creatures to put on pressure with. As you can see I added the tutors and COW that Lymph recommended. Tutoring for a null rod seems good. I really think there is potential here.

The s/b looks solid as well; the seals seem ok against oath decks as well as aggro artifact decks. Orim's chant/chalice is in there for combo decks.

Cabal/pyro may be needed against control deck having all that anit blue hate doesn’t seem like a bad idea, well that’s the deck. -the bob
19  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 25, 2007, 02:59:42 am
This is a mana denial deck with mox monkey and blaster, null rod is optional.
20  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 24, 2007, 02:56:58 pm
I am thinking the deck should be something like…

Red
4 REB
2 mox monkey
2 blastminer

White
4 lions
2 isamaru
4 grunt
2 stp
2 orims chant

Black
4bob
4duress
3withered wretch
2theopy

Artifacts
3 null rod/ skull clamp

Open slots
3???

S/B
2 chant
2 stp
2 lightning bolt
2 pyroblast
4 seal of cleansing
3 shattering spree / rack and ruin.

22 mana
5 strips
The rest I would really have to think about I’m not really good at fixing mana problems with decks, someone sujusted that I throw in one or two copies of Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth.

Its pretty much self explanatory, it looks like fish without blue like a weird sligh deck.
I like the idea of early mana denial that’s why I wanted the monkey/miner/strips. What I thought the deck lacked was draw so I was thinking about adding the clamps but if you go that route than you can’t use null rods. I understand people may not like the idea of clamp but a mid to late game mox monkey isn’t going to make much of a difference in my eyes, and she should be sacrificed for the greater good.

I love the main deck REBs with so much blue around it should never be a dead card.
As far as oath is concerned well stp is my only answer for the deck (in the main anyway). I felt grunt was necessary for this build he is a great beater who can live with a clamp swing for a quarter of your opponent's life. Not to mention being able to put your waste lands duress, and rebs back into your deck.

Withered Wretch I felt was necessary to stop your opponent's from recurring things from their graveyards.

I know there are 3 open slots, I thinning about moving more stps into the main deck or throwing in whipcorders to stop Akroma.

Like I said with the man aim not too sure what that should look like, but I want roughly 5 to 5 fetches to 1 thin out the deck and 2 shuffle it after your grunt has gone to work for you.---the bob
21  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 24, 2007, 04:31:41 am
Not really what I had in mind, I still want duress and bobs.
22  Eternal Formats / Creative / Fish out of water (fish with no blue) on: January 24, 2007, 03:46:20 am
Is it possible to make fish without blue? Now you may be asking your self, why would you? I used to play fish a lot back in the day, u/r fish (mox monkey, fire/ice, lavamancer etc.) Every year that I see a new list for a fish deck I always see less and less blue and more of other colors. I’m not saying cut recall or timewalk; you can keep a blue splash those cards. My mind set is more focus around a blue hosier deck. More main deck disruption and cheep beefy creatures to apply pressure firmly.

I don’t have a deck list in mind right now I’m just proposing the idea. I would however make my deck RWB with maybe the U splash for recall/walk.
Red- main deck REB, mox monkey lavamancer
White for the and orims chat/abeyance.
Black- duress, theopy, bob.

I do realize this takes away meddling mage and force, but a deck like fish where you are trying to be proactive as apose to reactive i would rather not have force, yeah I know its crazy but I hate pitching a possible threat to counter something that’s going to be blue more than ½ of the time.

But without blue how do we stop oath? Any ideas?
23  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Planar Chaos spoiler: Braids on: January 18, 2007, 05:15:25 pm
Braids, Conjurer Adept,Frozen Æther( Kismet), Palinchron,Stasis... thats the only way I see Braids working, maybe throw in Akroma, or resets. Just thought it would be ok if your opponents put in their own Akroma or DSC as long as it comes into play tapped and they can't untap them, and you being able, to play Palinchron off Braids and giving yourself 7 more turns with the staiss lock was an ok idea, not saying its going to work but it looks like its worth trying.
24  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Turboland/Oath on: January 18, 2007, 01:42:10 am

I used to play turbo land alot, when it was extended zvi version of the deck, I loved it ran great, it just looks like your trying to do to manay things at once, and from experiance that never works out right, for me anyway. I once ran the extended deck in a type one turny and lost to keeper, he swords my Battlefield Scrounger and I couldn't get the loop off. So how do you win without the Scrounger? You can still combo and get all the turns you want but you cant win with out him, if im reading this right. Try tree top village mabe? This way with your build if they waste the village you can get it back, and you can bounce any blockers they may have. Its a hard deck to play good luck.
26  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Turboland/Oath on: January 15, 2007, 05:30:36 pm
barbarian ring? no? just thought i mention that it gives you another combo option and kills meddling mage.
27  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Affinity on: January 15, 2007, 05:01:31 pm
//NAME: Affinity
SB:  4 Lightning Bolt
SB:  2 Duress /oxidize/ drak blast
SB:  4 Overload
SB:  1 Pyroblast
SB:  4 Spell Snare
        4 Glimmervoid
        1 Seat of the Synod
        4 Great Furnace
        4 Vault of Whispers
        1 Black Lotus
        1 Sol Ring
        1 Mox Sapphire
        1 Mox Ruby
        1 Mox Pearl
        1 Mox Jet
        1 Mox Emerald
        4 Red Elemental Blast
        4 Pithing Needle
        1 Time Walk
        1 Ancestral Recall
        4 Cranial Plating
        4 Skullclamp

        4 Arcbound Worker
        4 Arcbound Ravager
        2 Atog
        4 Dark Confidant
        4 Disciple of the Vault

This has been testing well, I didn't like the duress main deck, because well mox monkey sent me to frowny town and I can sac it to my boys. People might question the overload over the OXY, but I can respond to null rod by floating mana. It's like the only reason why, because other than that I'm playing those spells off a glimmer void.

Please take the time to write better and to use capitals and punctuation as appropriate.

Question? I hate sounding noobish but I haven't played mtg for over a year, kinda started playing holdem :/ (I'm at 3 tables while I'm writing this) but ne anyway, bob? What does that stand for? Sorry but I can't test with cards I can't look up.

Please use capitals and apostrophes where appropriate.

29  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Affinity on: January 14, 2007, 05:22:21 am
I dont like workshops because it doesnt provide the the color mana needed to run this deck, also i cant use it to move the clamp around, as for acadamy, opps my bad.
i like the chain of vapor, no offece but I'm going to try aetiher spell bomb, seems good, i played againets oath it as my only lost, he ended up scubing out to fish decks than ran main deck leonin bloa...TECH lol jk. So yeah thanks for the responces.
30  Eternal Formats / Creative / Affinity on: January 13, 2007, 03:30:23 pm
Ok I haven’t posted in awhile and a friend convinced me to go play a type one tournament at a local store, the only cards I had were left over junk form rgbeats and old type two affinity and with a 10 proxies limit I was able to put this deck together.

1 Mana Crypt
        1 Mox Emerald
        1 Mox Sapphire
        1 Mox Ruby
        1 Mox Pearl
        1 Mox Jet
        1 Black Lotus
        4 Glimmervoid
        3 Vault of Whispers
        3 Great Furnace
3 Seat of the Synod (20 mana sorces)
        4 Spell Snare
4 Red Elemental Blast  (8 counter magic)
        4 Frogmite
        4 Arcbound Worker
        4 Arcbound Ravager
        4 Myr Enforcer
        4 Disciple of the Vault
        3 Dark Confidant (23 men)
        4 Brainstorm
        4 Skullclamp
1 Ancestral Recall (9 ways to draw cards)

SB:  4 Chalice of the Void
SB:  4 Lightning Bolt
SB:  3 Pyroblast
SB:  4 Overload

This deck is pretty tight I really enjoyed playing it I seriously haven’t had so much fun playing magic in like a year (I won the tourney). Everyone was playing a tier one deck went 5 rounds top 8, not everyone knew what they were doing though. This is an auto lost to anyone who plays oath unless you draw more counter magic than the oath player which probably won’t happen. But vs normal control decks it just runs them over it was great.

I like spell snare/REBs in this version of affinity, countering null rod against fish decks is huge and with all the blue everywhere I thought the REB was a good choice main deck.

Dark Confidant/Brainstrom/Skullclamp, Oh Dark Confidant the little wizard that could. The only reason he would suck in a game is if you reveal a myr enforcer other than that he is the nuts, only reason I don’t run four is because Skullclamp > Dark Confidant. People has asked me “why no thoughtcast” well you cant do that on turn one like you can brainstorm, and I can also respond with spells with brainstorm, so that’s why brainstorm is here over Thoughtcast. As for Skullclamp well it’s the only reason I decide to play, this is the only format its legal in lol.

As for the 20 mana sources, affinity never needed more than 20 in old type two I figured with moxen that 20 should be enough even with wasteland/stripmine around.
The side board I kinda just threw together, I ran overload to kill null rods, the one R was the only reason I'm running it seeing how if null rod is in play ill have to play it off a glimmorvoid. Well that’s the deck any subjections? Other than demonic tutor and Ywin? I didn’t think either was necessary I might run the tutor but I don’t know what to cut.
