I have a plaque of Desiderata hanging on my wall. It's an awesome poem.

Here's a powerful love poem by E.E. Cummings. Use it wisely.
(all grammar is how he put it on the paper)

***

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which I cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose

or if your wish be to close me,i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

Welcome back!
7  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: The Meta-CCG: A Dr. Sylvan Project on: March 21, 2007, 03:44:38 am
You should add Illuminati: New World Order. That game has cards you will not find anywhere else, especially if you want to go multiplayer with this.

I was just about to suggest Illuminati, although for some reason it doesn't seem like it would fit well with other CCG's.

On another note, welcome back Dr. Sylvan. Smile

I'm pretty sure calling her by her father's first name would be enough to end a relationship.

Oh man. That is so good.
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Polar Bear vs. Baby Seal Girl on: February 02, 2007, 02:08:07 am
I thought it was dumb. That girl needs to get beaten with a stick. Or perhaps, beaten with my stick.  Twisted Evil
10  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: That's some shit right there on: January 31, 2007, 12:49:19 am
That is some seriously fucked up shit right there. You can bet that if that was my wife, I would be going postal.

As far as her reaction, don't forget that you're reading what the writer and editor of that article want you to read. She could have been seething mad and in tears, but the writer/editor could have chosen not to express that.

In any case I would expect her to be.
11  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: It's a girl, etc. on: January 23, 2007, 06:24:23 pm
Congratulations.

And props on the name.

Um, I dunno about what you should get, but here's a handy list of what you * shouldn't*  get. Behold, the 10 most dangerous toys of all time:

http://www.radaronline.com/features/2006/12/toys.php

Get them LEGO. All of them. Yes, your parents, too. LEGO is still the best toy ever.

Hehehe I was just talking to someone about that list of 10 most dangerous toys. I really want to find some lawn darts for summertime.

And I concur with Bram regarding LEGO. Bionicle and Exo Force - BIG GIANT FIGHTING LEGO ROBOTS. Do it.
15  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Old School TMDrs' Favorite Memory (THREAD) on: December 11, 2006, 03:25:31 am
Honestly, I don't see how this thread has gotten this far without some reference to Kowal's faux B/R report on Night's Whisper.  That may well have been the best post I have seen on any internet forum ever.

This page?

Yes, it was quite the classic.

Is the 40 Midgets VS a Lion poll still too recent to be considered for this thread?
16  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Your all-time favorit decks on: December 08, 2006, 01:16:34 pm
Old school Suicide Black - I used to be infatuated with this deck. I remember pimping out my deck, obtaining Oriental versions of all the cards (and where none were available, European), all Unglued swamps. Killing someone with a Japanese Negator felt so delicious. Oh man that thing was a blast to play.

Sadly, I ended up taking it apart, although I still have my Japanese Yawg Will, the final card remaining from that deck.

It's absolutely brilliant. It could work better here in Vancouver, where they would surely be using at least some Asian girls.

That girl is HOTTTTT!!!!!
20  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: News You Can Use on: October 23, 2006, 03:59:54 am
That is one of the most memorable headlines EVER.

The only other headline which beats that is on the article about Jeb Bush's private plane being hit by lightning:

"God tries to kill Jeb Bush, fails."
21  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Browsers on: September 10, 2006, 06:02:16 am
I use Safari at work, and it seems to be an okay alternative to the 'ol fox.

Tabbed browsing for the win!

24  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Thank you "Louis" on: August 22, 2006, 01:06:19 am
If I may make a quote from the poem "Desiderata," by Max Ehrmann: "In the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world."

Awesome poem. A poster of that very poem is hanging in my room.

Congrats on the return.
25  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: So who's seeing / saw Snakes on a Plane? on: August 19, 2006, 05:28:56 am
Half of it was the movie itself, which was pretty badass for an action flick.

Half of it was the crowd. Internet hype 4 the win.

This movie represents our generation. I am so proud *tear*.

That was the best movie experience I've ever had in my life.

That first shirt is freaking awesome!
27  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: [MTG-website article] 80,000 words on: August 07, 2006, 10:01:37 pm
I was expecting something a bit more... "grand" I guess.

But those are definitely nice offices.

28  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: EMERGENCY - Please Help Me... Cards Stolen Today on: August 02, 2006, 05:35:08 pm
Roland: I do not know you at all.

However, I still feel horrible for what happened to you. Things of this short should not happen to anyone, friend or foe.

I'll notify some dealer friends who still sling the cards. It may not seem like much, but the more people who are aware, the better.

I will pray that you and Jacob get your cards back.

Bram: THANK YOU for coming in and showing HOW A MODERATOR SHOULD ACT in this kind of situation. It was seriously getting dumb and stupid in this thread.

Null Rod: Keep your head high. If you are innocent, everything will work out in the end.
29  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: YouTube stuff on: July 22, 2006, 02:00:46 pm
I'm pretty sure YouTube is one of the best things ever to come from the internet.
30  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: What's the weirdest thing you've done with a card? on: July 19, 2006, 03:31:52 pm
I microwaved a foil Goblin Trenches.

I still have it...somewhere. It looks really neat.

I also used them as coasters, bookmarks, notepads, ninja stars, straightedges, all the usual stuff.
