That maindeck is straight up cron stax.  It's almost identical to what i got ninth with last may in richmond.

He runs 8 cards you don't. I wouldn't call that identical by any means. Same archetype of 5cStax, but hardly same style. His runs threats and Welders, a major deviation from Cron's.

Is Seal of Cleansing that good as to use not one but TWO maindeck slots? What lock pieces aren't being played in order to let those in the list? Tanglewires are nuts, and from what I've seen, Resistance is better off played in the board, but it looks like one of those 'can't argue with results' thing, especially seeing as I'm not the Stax expert by any means.

Yes, seal of cleansing is just that good.

If i remember right Steve said in one of his stax articles that it was a key card that he would never cut.

Times change, but i'm sure it's still worth one or two slots just to remove problems.

Can anybody tell me the exact order of the top 8?  All I know is Jeremy (with stax) got 1st and Jerry (with u/r slaver) got 5th (1st going into top 8, then losing).

Doesn't Cron use 2 Welders a lot of the time? I have seen lists of his that he uses 2 welders in the deck.

THe concept is the same that Kevin devised.  Most of the major components are the same: 2 seals, 2 shamans, in the eye.  We debated whether to run 2 welders, which makes sense.

Day 1:
http://sales.starcitygames.com/deckdatabase/deckshow.php?&t%5BC1%5D=vin&start_date=2006-06-11&end_date=2006-06-11

The following people are cheaters:
Andy Probasco (only 59 cards--you wrote "1 swamp" twice)
Keith Johnson (only 57 cards)
Paul Mastriano (only 59 cards--you wrote "1 black lotus" twice)

edit:

Travis LaPlante.  Play real decks.  I had no idea what the hell to call your decks.  I settled on Shop Slaver after some thought.  It barely beat out Travis.dec or Pile.dec.

@ Chiz: A few questions about your list:

1) Is there any reason why you don't run Lion's Eye Diamond?

2) The old builds of Bomberman used to run Meddling Mages in the main deck. Has Mana Leak just proven to be an all around better option, or is purely based upon meta expectations?

3) Why did you decide that you wanted to run Fact or Fiction in the 3 color version as opposed to the straight UW build?

Well, SCG DOES happen to have a neat little deck comparison thing.  Here we go.

+1 Chalice Of The Void
+1 Barbarian Ring
+1 Bazaar Of Baghdad
+1 Duplicant
+2 Goblin Welder
+1 Sundering Titan
+1 Triskelion

-2 Chains Of Mephistopheles
-1 Gemstone Mine
-1 In The Eye Of Chaos
-1 Lotus Petal
-1 Sphere Of Resistance
-1 Swords To Plowshares
-1 Yawgmoth's Will

There is your main differences.

Well, almost the entire sideboard as well.

+1 Jester's Cap
+4 Juggernaut
+2 Rack And Ruin
+3 Red Elemental Blast
+2 Tormod's Crypt
+1 Triskelion

-2 Arcane Laboratory
-2 Choke
-2 Ground Seal
-2 Meddling Mage
-2 Old Man Of The Sea
-1 Seal Of Cleansing
-2 Viashino Heretic

Fuck that shiznit, If I'm gonna scrub out, it will always be with something original.  And anything > then 8th place is considered scrubbing out at SCG tournaments so, it happens to me  a lot.

Minds desire is the king of the lucksack card.  Every deck should run 4.

well Steve, I have been playing this list within 2-3 cards for a long time.  I've always ran chalice and no tangle wire, and I've always ran only 2 goblin welders.  If you look at my list from day 2 of richmond the only card I changed since then was the fastbond for the in the eye of chaos because I expected a little bit more combo.  Its been a very similar list for almost 6 months.  All stax lists have similarities, what kevin cron's list lacked was a way to just win right away. That is part of the reason I have all of the maindeck creatures such as triskelion and sundering titan, and juggernauts in the board to better certain matchups.  I didn't copy anyones list.  I don't like yawgmoth's will in stax or chains of mephistopheles.  I came up with this list on my own through my own experience playing.

Good job MoxLotus!!

Their is a little error: I (Martin Bonneville) finished 6th and not 7th. I was 5-0-2 (2nd) after 7 rounds. But anyway, I don't care that  much about it...  Wink

Again, that's pretty fast, thank you!

1- LED isn't need at all in the deck... That's a card that does nothing on itself, it needs a Salvagers to be good... So, it's kind of a dead card in the early / mid game. Even in the late game, thats probably a dead card, with 4 Trinket, 4 Thirst, 4 Brainstrom (+lot of shuffle effects), you shouldn't have problems finding your Lotus. Add to the fact that LED makes you discard your hand when you combo (makes you vulnerable to Swords and things like that) and you should see why we don't play it...

2- Mana Leak was pretty good all day long for me... Honnestly, I didn't playtested before day2 with Leaks, but Éli. T. (Who made top4 with Bomberman day1), said that they were pretty good for him all day long and that's what other Quebekers said (who played Ugo's CS list). So I decided to play them too. It seems that in Rochester, no one see Leak comming, especially 1st turn. I countered at least 3 buisness spell with them first turn (2x Recall and 1x Oath) and each time my opponent didn't expect it at all! For the surprise factor, it was good... And they helped for the "control part of Bomberman", which is the most important part of Bomberman (It's a Control/aggro deck, with a comboish finish). I'll make some tests to see if they are better than Meddling Mage, but they was certainly good cards for Rochester.

3- Personnally, I like FoF in Bomberman (That's why I played it 1st day in my UWb build), but I had to removed something to make place for Mana Leaks. FoF didn't make the deck because it costed 4, we prefered to have 4 Thirsts instead of 3 Thirst and 1 FoF.

Thanks for typing up all the lists.

The dates of the events are wrong: day 1 was 10th June (not 11th) and day 2 was 11th (not 18th).

I think they have to do that because of the search function, otherwise theyd come up on the same day or something.

Exactly.  Besides, Day 1 actually is included in the week ending on the 11th (the search function doesn't give you the day, it gives you the week of)!
