Does anyone know if the 1st place gifts list ran repeals? I think so, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,
Marc

I've been playing pretty much the same deck for about 18 months with some results here and there.  Simon.  Quirky?

I've seen you play, and we've even personally played.  The deck isn't random, and it is actually pretty good.

Does anyone know if the 1st place gifts list ran repeals? I think so, but I'm not sure.

I've heard something about 3x Repeal Gifts lists, though this might not be the one.

Though certain card choices may change pretournament I can say that it did have repeals.

What happened to storm combo?  I thought Long was the nuts?  Was Steve and others not there?

Absolutely no meandeckers showed up to this event.

Driving that far away is just too much of a pain for someone who lives in columbus - it makes it a four day weekend.

On the other hand, if SCG holds a tournament in chicago, or columbus, or pittsburg, or michigan, that would be the hotness.

Just to explain to whoever is unfamiliar, this is how the izzet deck works:

Control the game into the late game, where you have a 6+ Islands, Volcanic Island, and Izzet Guildmage in play, though if you have already cast high tide you only need 2 Islands and Volcanic.

You can then tap your islands, cast reset copy it, tap all your other islands to float mana, and the copy resolves, untapping your islands.  Then with your untapped lands copy the Reset again, float mana etc.  This generates infinite mana.

With your infinite mana, cast Fire/Ice, and copy it infinite times with the Izzet Guildmage

I have this built in Legacy, but never actually thought of porting it to T1

Thanks! 3 days ago I threw together an Izzet GuildMage, High Tide, Isochrone Scepter, BrainFreeze, Remand deck (18 islands, no fetches/artifact accelleration to see where it gets me, and now this? Izzet Combo top 8? Nice!)

I know that it's a long drive to Chi town Pete Hoefling, just send your goons to go and do it!  You are the boss afterall.  We all know that Chicago brings in the most people.

It's too bad that these tournies area so small and that the results are only good for looking at the latest surprise decks.

I'm really curious how Carp does.  If he doesn't win, he's gonna be out an Asian Foil Sundering Titan lol

The Izzet combo deck sounds really interesting, I would like to see that more than anything. It just sucks that when someone new comes out of a tournament with such little  "Big Team names" and turnout it's hard to see how viable and competitve that deck can really be. If this was a 300 people turn out than this might be the next new thing.

I wouldn't worry about that, its funny how many people netdeck the flavor of the month deck.  This time it is SS.  Last time it was Ichorid.  Time before that it was UbaStax.  People always copy what does well in SCG P9 tournaments.

You are correct, but sometimes this need from people to netdeck becomes the evolving of a new tier one monster, such as Control Slaver.

Dan Carp took second, Chris something (he works for SCG, I forgot his last name) won with the SS.

I will have the Izzet list up shortly, I just wanted to go ahead and post the finals

Brassman and nate both lost first round of top 8.

Apparently nate mulled to 5 one game.
