Last night, after the semifinals at Kobe, the finalists for the Designer Search WotC has been running were announced, and our very own Andy Probasco is among them! Congratulations Brassy, and good luck!

This is excellent. Brass Man is one of the finest theoretical minds in our community, and applying his insight to card design would be a huge boon for the game. I wonder if Brass would become a keyworded mechanic, or perhaps even a subtype for artifact cards.

And untapping one of the "Brassman" cards would be doing the Andy?

Brass X: This does not untap during your untap step. At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay . If you do, untap this.Wait a minute. If Andy gets in, we can no longer bitch and claim that Wizards of the Coast R&D ignores T1!!

Sure we can. Keep in mind he'll be in an intern, as opposed to you know Design Lead (or something).

Good job, BrassMan! Now let us know as much as you can on these boards how your contest goes... stand up to MaRo, don't let yourself "be kicked off the island", as Randy aptly put it on the PT Kobe webcast!

Proxy Vintage is basically the only tournament magic RnD gets, so I don't think we could ever say "RnD ignore Type 1". The SCG Power 9 is a great boon for Vintage in that sense (in addition to all the obvious good points!).
Well done Brassy!

Ever since this started, I was hoping one of our own would have a shot at getting the position. Congrats, Brassman! Not only is it great that a TMDer is a finalist, but a TMDer so well-known and well-respected.

Hey guys, definitely appreciate the vote of confidance here, and thanks a million for the kind words. Any vintage publicity is good news to me, and I'm thrilled that I made it this far, but I have a feeling the hard part is just beginning. Wish me luck :D:D

Congrats!
Of course, if Brassman is selected, I know that he'll manage to sneak some random card by the rest of R&D that combos insanely with Brass Man. Since they apparently don't consider Vintage and Legacy cards, they'll never see it coming! Then they'll have to ban the Arabian Nights common artifact, and it will bring a smile to all of our faces.

I love how they gave everyone a Magic-Illustration icon. Brassman's? Brassman. Oh, and also: Gleemax: Andrew seems to enjoy being clever for the sake of being clever. If this is any surprise to Gleemax, that huge Brain hasn't met many New Englanders before.
