Euclid's Elements is MY bible!

April 9th was a good day for Vintage.  We had 44 people at this event in Stratford, Ct.  The players seemed to have a terrific time and the $5 reduced entry fee and word of mouth of people like Nick D. may have been contributing factors that brought in a terrific 15 new players.

I can't thank enough the 44 players who came out for a great time.  Without player support, there is no Vintage, and you should all know that it means a lot to me that you chose to use your Saturday to play Vintage, and I hope you felt it was worth it.

I feel, now more than ever, in the wake of players being priced out of Legacy and proxy vintage quickly becoming the "budget" format, that we have a unique opportunity to draw players into the format, show them some great tourneys, and retain a good player base.  I send out a cry to all TO's to consider doing things like upping proxy limits, building and supplying extra decks to new players, etc to work on growing attendance.  It isn't just one thing that will help the format, and no idea is neccesarily better or worse than another if they are beneficial, so please, let's see what we can do to get the size and frequency of vintage events back to where they should be.

Without further ado...

Dave took the whole thing down.

So, in conclusion, I had a terrific time Saturday and be sure to look forward to TMD Open 14.6(hey I had to fit it in somehow) coming in about a month and a half.

Cheers,
Ray

Correction: Nick Vallas should replace David Earley in the finals of the side event.

Beyond that, this was a great event. I am really looking forward to your future events.

Right you are, sir.   Corrected and found out Dave won in the finals.

Very glad to see the strong attendance at this event!  Not surprised to see Dredge did well, Jesse's deck looks awesome, congrats to teammate Nick Detwiler, as well as the brave soul playing Ooze/Devourer combo.

Jesse's list stomped all over me post-board.  Tendrils' answer to Dredge: I'm too fucking fast for you and laugh in the face of your Leyline of Sanctities! Although I did almost stabilize game 3 after mulling to 1 because tinker-> Myr Battlesphere is WEAKSAUCE. haha, hey I had to amuse myself somehow in that slaughter of a third game!

Bill Copes isn't a man who likes to see his name second.  In fact Bill Copes is going to "get there" in team car and run your ass over Ray for disrespecting his name and putting it after anything.

This is the revised list of the standings after 6 rounds of Swiss:

1. Bill Copes
2. God

Wow, this looked awesome and that ooze deck seems wicked sweet. Also congrats to the whole top 8, but especially Adam with RG Beatz. Amazing. I might work towards getting to one of these at some point if events allow. This thread has gotten me pretty pumped about the state of the format.

EDIT: I understand that I didn't mention Bill Copes in my post, but I'm sure if he really is as amazing as lore holds, my post will just edit itself.

DOUBLE EDIT: Holy shit.

TRIPLE EDIT: TO BILL COPES!

Had a great time at the event, it was my first TMD Open and my first time playing R/G was in the first round having done zero play testing.  I'm usually a dredge player but just wasn't feeling the deck lately, so put up R/G together, similar to the current list going around the TMD with some tweaks.  Performed so much better than I expected getting into the T8 only losing to dredge in the swiss and T8.

Awesome event. Jesse and Bill both had really solid lists I think.  Props to the dredge players for capitalizing on a meta that was sleeping on hate.

Awesome event. Jesse and Bill both had really solid lists I think.  Props to the dredge players for capitalizing on a meta that was sleeping on hate.

That list can run anything over if you play tightly. However, it does have a tendency to fold to an Eldrazi Conscription attached to a Birds of Paradise.

I wish I could replay that last match. I made a horrible turn 1 misplay that cost me game 1.  I had an awesome hand that could have played a chalice at 1 and follow up the next turn with null rod, to catch any Moxen that could have hit.  Instead, I play chalice 0, rod, I think. Something suboptimal that didn't shut off jesse's lines of play.

The deck worked for game 2 - it made spheres and beef. I essentially got turn 1'd game 3. Jesse's turn 1 lotus, Time Twister, Lotus, land, Jace, counters, and bounce was a little hard to play through with a Time Twister hand that fed me three 2-spheres and some sol lands.  Oh well.  I'll get it done next time. Congrats, Jesse.  Well played match.
