Vintage at Pandemonium

Hi everyone! Our monthly vintage events have been a great success and we'd like to step it up with the first ever tournament for Duals at Pandemonium!

Sunday, July 31st
The event begins at 1pm. Registration starts at 12.
This is an unlimited proxy event.
$20 entry fee
Sample prizes below:
Quote
For 16 players:

1st place: 2x Blue dual
2nd place: 1x Blue dual
3rd place: Store credit
4th place: Store credit

For 20 players:

1st place: 2x Blue dual
2nd place: 1x Blue dual and store credit
3rd: Cash refund of entrance fee
4th: Same

For 24 players:

1st place: 3x Blue dual
2nd place: 2x Blue dual
3rd place: 1/2 box
4th place: 1/2 box

This event will be ranked using the unofficial TMD rating system.

Decklists will be required at this event, with all proxies marked.

Proxy rules
Due the the higher value of this tournament, our proxy rules will be more strict than in our other events.
* All proxies must clearly have the correct card name, mana cost, card type, and all relevant rules text (or a close approximation for common cards). You can either use a sharpie on a basic land card or card back, or you can modify a card by altering the text on it. Textless proxies altered this way will be acceptable as long as they contain the card name and mana cost.
* If you use the "shapie on back of card" method, opaque sleeves will be required.
* Abbreviations will be acceptable as long as they are unambiguous. For example, a proxy marked "Jace TMS" with the mana cost and "+0 Brainstorm" "-1: Unsummon", etc, would be acceptable.
* Paper slips in card sleeves will not be accepted.

If you have any questions about the validity of your proxies, please speak to me or the head judge before the event begins.

In for this.  Can't wait.  Hopefully I won't play terribly this time around.

The real question is, will Belcher be adequately represented in the field? Only Ian Mulligan knows the answer.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Let's get as many people as we can attending. If it goes well, we'll continue to have more events like this in the future!

Thought I might make a little graphic of how it's going to go for you if you are unfortunate enough to get paired against me in the tournament.

Track pants and boat shoes will be the last things you see before your demise.

24 people.  A respectable showing, and hopefully the start of a trend for the region.

Thanks to everyone who came out and thanks to Daenyth for putting it together.  I had a great time today despite playing terribly. Also a big thanks to all the people who offered suggestions and overall just good magic conversation.   I look forward to hopefully seeing this trend continue.

edit: typo.

If I was paying attention at all, I would have come to this, but I didn't find out about until too late.  Try to make it to the next one

Mini Tourney Report:

Round 1 Playing Chris with ANT: See Elbow Drop Picture above.

Round 2 Playing Arik with landstill: See Elbow Drop Picture above.

Round 3 Adrian Becker playing Aggro Shops: See Elbow Drop Picture above...but imagine he rolls out of the way before I land.

Round 4 Ray Robillard playing sphereless shops: See Elbow Drop Picture Above.

Round 5 John Lessard: ID

Top 8 Adrian Becker playing Aggro Shops: Got him on the rematch Ohhh Yeahhhhh!!!!!

Top 4 Brian Schlossberg playing Aggro Shops: I connect with the elbow drop.

but when I go to pin him he lifts his shoulder on the 3 count, then he started hulking up and was immune to my blows. Finally, he finished me off with the leg drop.

Fortunately, we had agreed to a prize split beforehand.

Game 1 of round two took 40 minutes.  Not an elbow drop.  I've never seen someone dredge so slowly.  You went to time almost every round.  Also, this happened:

MM turn: Cabal Therapy, sees null rod, hurkyl's recall, crucible of worlds.  Passes the turn.

I draw my card and pass.

MM does his thing, then goes to Dread Return his Iona.  I respond by Misdirecting Dread Return to Ichorid.

I have never seen people so upset about slow play given that I didn't have a single unintentional draw and went to time ONCE, which was concluded on turn 2 of turns.
