Irony that it's only a drive away for me now, but will be a plane ride away for me come November. Regardless, I'll definitely be there for both days. Looking forward to it.

Anyone else notice that these are 60 minute rounds for both events?  Is that new or did that change recently?

Added to the calendar.  All I need to do is get some power together and then I'll be there.  This is too close to home for me not to at least attempt to make it.

WotC dropped the ball on this, but luckily Nick was the one that picked it up. This is going to be awesome!

Nick, has there been any determination about side events, other events, etc.  If there is more on the docket for Friday, I would be willing to consider flying in Thursday.  When do you also plan to schedule the Vintage prelim tournament?  I don't see much more listed on Card Titan.

I am also interested in the planned side events throughout the weekend, as well as what the preferred hotels are. Thanks!

Nick has been crazy busy, as you can imagine.

That being said, there will be more than enough Magic to whet all appetites.  I don't know what I'm allowed to talk about and what I'm not, but Friday will have a full slate of events, including Legacy prelims.

You should message psyburat for more information, Steve.  Mike will know what can and can't be disclosed right now.

I will say that not disclosing something 2 months ahead of time when people are trying to make travel plans is idiotic. People have been buying plane tickets and others will plan on buying them over the next 2 weeks, so whatever info and plans there are schedule wise that are available should be made public ASAP. If WotC should have learned anything in their 20 years of being terrible at organizing Magic tournaments it's that more information is better.

Hey guys,

I understand how important it is to post information well ahead of time, so that people can make plans.  We've been updating the website all week, and if you go take a look I'm sure you'll see all of the information that you need.  We'll be adding the more things every day as they get finalized. This event is shaping up to be one of a kind, and I can't emphasize how excited I'm getting. Thanks for your patience.

See you in November,

-Nick Coss

I just checked, and lots of info is now up on the site for those who are interested. Preferred Hotels, a Grand Prix Trial, and a PTQ are all updated. Plus OOP draft sets will be there. Gonna be a great weekend, and I now have my room booked.

Just a couple questions:

Are the prizes/costs correct for the Grinders? I'm just trying to assess the EV on things for Friday.

Will there be any "win a mox" events or such?

Love the news. (Seriously, now my Legacy friends will be showing up because they can PTQ Sunday while I sling moxen) Can't wait to see everyone.

Are the Vintage Grinders really single elimination? This seems super swingy and not worth the entry fee compared to something like the Gencon prelims that actually had strategic value.

Yes, both the Legacy and Vintage Grinders "really are single elimination". The majority of Vintage players expressed interest in multiple grinders going on all weekend that would enable them to play in both the Legacy and Vintage Champs events.  If we offered one large prelim we would only be able to offer it Saturday afternoon, and we didn't want players to have to choose between a side event and one of the main events.  As I continue to learn, it's impossible to make everyone happy, and I hope that the fact that we're running multiple Vintage Grinders that are single elimination won't detract too much from what looks to be an amazing weekend for Legacy and Vintage players alike.

To put on my admin hat for a moment:

I have stickied this topic.  It is too awesome to not be stickied.

That Vintage Champs is going to be held in my backyard this year pretty much means that I have to go, as well as everyone who calls themselves a Vintage pilot in the Mid Atlantic.  This is an opportunity for us to support a T/O who has supported this format, without fail, for years.  We need to do this.

Nick Coss has done more to support this format and this community than just about anyone else out there.  He is on a very short list of the people who are most dedicated to this format, who have done what they could to grow the format and support its players.  This could not happen to a  better person.  This means great things for Vintage.

THIS

Salute to you, Nick. I am going to try hard to make this. Wish I didn't have to sell my power Crying or Very sad. I thonk the rest of Team Baltimore is Legacy only now, but I'll see if we can start shaking the rust off.

Preregistration is now open!

http://www.cardtitan.com/catalog/event_registration-2013_eternal_weekend/4426

Why should I preregister you say?  Let's just say that there will be an awesome playmat given out to the first 400 unique players who register for Legacy and Vintage Champs!

Do you have to rereg for both to get the playmat, or just one or the other.

One or the other; in fact, preregistering for both gets you one playmat (it's being given out to the first 400 unique players to preregister), since I want to spread the playmat wealth to as many players as possible.

Is there a way to know if we are one of these lucky few?
