We have Vintage tournaments at least once a month, plus all sorts of other events like Prereleases and State Championships.  Plus, we have a weekly Legacy tournament on Sundays that usually draws around 20-30 people.

hawt.  Bring back Fox - although if they include Sonic the Hedgehog then I'll QUICKLY forget about Fox / Falco.
i dunno, ive gotten so used to falco that it would be hard to just give him up.

i would love to see another character like fox or falco, personally.
and whats up with snake? do you really think hes going to be good?
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Best anti oath options for U/r Fish on: May 04, 2006, 07:47:19 am
Extract is shit. You need to resolve two or three to take out their creatures.

I disagree. Extract is actually the best answer to Oath. Take Akroma then get 2+ turns to deal with the other creature. For U, that sounds pretty damn good to me. It's miles better than having to deal with a creature that's already on the board.

I think Rushing River is a card that's overlooked here. It might not be a hard answer to Oath, but it's not dead in other matchups either.

You have plenty of cards that can stall them for long enough to get in with your Manlands. Heck, this gets even better with the Genju.

i agree, extract is the main plan that oath itself uses against the mirror, so why wouldn't it work for fish?
i wouldn't use cap, for reasons already explained.
and one more thing: how is genju doing for you? the reason i ask is because, well, frankly i have opted it for other cards such as flying men.

Assuming that you don't have Force, Drain, or Leak.  Which is *ahem* somewhat unlikely.

assuming youre not playing IT, with forces of your own, and duress. its not like you try to go off without protection you know.

The oath timewalk with an orchard out is basically gg. It lets you win now, instead of waiting the extra turn for them to find an answer.

Time walk deals with the biggesr problem with oath decks. They need 2-3 turns to actually win after they "win". This is far too long in some cases, especially against combo decks, gifts, or slaver, which can randomly pull themselves out of some deep holes. Time walk lets you resolve it, oath up another creature, and smash with two hasty wenches. They get no outs, they get no more topdecks, you just win.

For oath: Time walk > moxes

yes, but when the combo player goes: timewalk, crazy setting up, yawgwin, timewalk, with something like necropotence out, they win anyways.

Haha, I was too hung over to play day two!   Beatings...

Yeah OBV Smennen made T8 day two;  was there ever any doubt?  There weren't even any VAG players there to stop him, it must have been an fing cakewalk.

If Steve were a Gorilla he would be beating his chest?  That is lame;  If I were a gorilla I would be blowing up infinate moxes and Chalices.

yeah, sadly enough, one of my best friends is a mexican monkey, well kinda...
but on a serious note, good job smmenen on your two top eights, and what did you get?
10  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Deft Mongoose on: April 07, 2006, 10:50:30 am
Just once, how about giving a Mongoose protection from snakes?

but why would a Mongoose be on a plane?
because the sequel to "snakes on a plane" is "Mongeese on a plane"

Interesting notes on those who made top 8.
Rich Shay:  1st and 64th
Jeff Anand: 2nd and didn't play
Brian Demars:3rd and didn't play
Eric Becker: 4th and 3rd
Justin Timoney: 5th and 12th
Mat Endress: 6th and 19th
Colby Evenpence:7th and 5th
Stephen Menendian:8th and 6th
Brian Fisher:47th and 1st
Ben Kowal:  122nd and 2nd
Andy Farias: 116th and 4th
Jason Gaudard: 69th and 7th
Mike Jones: Didn't play and 8th

You know what's more interesting?  I'm the only guy who made top 8 and then switched decks.

you know why? its because you are the god of magic. or allah, whatever your religion might be...
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Grimlong Vs IT, whats the better choice? on: April 05, 2006, 07:05:21 pm
i think it all depends on the player playing either deck, and how much experience they have with it.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Oath deck: I need help! on: April 05, 2006, 07:02:32 pm
No--you must have Walk and Ancestral in the deck.  Those cards are more essential than the moxen.  Walk is the most common tutor target and Ancestral is, well, Ancestral.  If you have no P9 and can proxy 5 cards it should be Walk, Ancestral, Lotus, Sapphire, Jet.

Agreed.  Timewalk is so criticaly in Oath.  Perhaps more critical in oath than any other deck.  If I was only allowed ONE proxy it would timewalk.

i, personally dont believe so. i think that gifts or some combo decks could abuse it more so than oath. in oath, you get to attack again. in combo you get to set up your win condition, then next turn win. in gifts, dc, timewalk, timewalk is imo, better than the oath timewalk.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / gifts oath on: January 05, 2006, 11:51:19 am
since i have never posted a thread on tmd, i decided i would post this deck.  for a while i had to play budget oath, and it was not fun, but since my recent purchase of moxes and lotus, i have come upon this build of gifts oath:
1 black lotus
5 moxen
1 sol ring
1 mana vault
2 senseis top
4 oath
1 gaes blessing
1 akroma
1 razia/sotn
4 b storm
3 gifts
4 ftk
4 fow
4 leak
1 krosan reclamation
1 mystical tutor
1 rebuild
1 burning wish
1 demonic tutor
1 recoup
1 regrowth
1 yawgwin
2 island
3 flooded strand
4 orchard
2 polluted delta
1 trop island
2 underground sea
1 volcanic island
1 tolarian academy

sb
1 tinker
1 dc
1 trike
1 tendrils
1 balance
2 chill
2 choke
3 oxidize
2 annul

yeah, not very original, but hey.
i decided to put the dc/tinker in my sb, for some odd reason, perhaps to have the sensei's? balance is in the sb to ensure that i can clear the board if need be. some goblins have been running about in my meta, so i sb chills.  choke, oxidize and annul are against the random unpower manabelcher decks that i sometimes see.  the one trike is for the other random oath decks there, though, i might need to up the count to two.  i havent decided between either razia or sotn, because i hear strong arguments for both.  i feel that my mana base needs the most work, as i have spent the least amount of time one it. i have spent about 3 weeks on this build and decided to finally ask for people's help on these forums.

ps: my meta is mostly unpowered aggro, with the occasional landstill and muc.
and as always, help is very much appreciation.

16  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Grim Long FAQ on: November 22, 2005, 05:50:54 pm
even though i havent read the article yet(i dont have a premium account), ive read many of your other works, and cant wait to read this one.
i do have one question though: how, exactly, would you play when your opponent drops a turn one trini?
ive played through it, and though sometimes difficult(opponent following up with moxes and smokestack(s)) ive managed to win some games.
and futhermore: what is some general advice for a newb at the deck?
