Hi. I'm just an average player from Singapore and the t1 scene isn't exactly very big over here, but the people here are mostly fully powered, sad to say,I ain't one of em..I play t2 and extended too, well,i try to play every tourney which is available here . My favorite format is officially t1 cos its where all the broken things happen. I suck at playing combo and I prefer playing aggro-control. I started playing magic during the period where judgement came out.Yeah, I'm still quite new to this i guess. The current deck I'm working on now is a mask variant which I hope to test out at the next t1 tourney over here. I own a couple of duals but sold of my powers last year due to financial problems and I'll probably get some in the near future. Well, my e-mail's il_diablos@hotmail.com feel free to add me to your msn messenger, I'll talk about magic to you anytime I'm free, which is most of the time since I don't exactly have studies as my first priority in my mind and I'm just 16..long way to go...

I'm a first-generation Canadian. Engineering student and game junkie. In addition to Magic I also play Netrunner (not that it's been in print for the last eight years) and various computer and console games. I've been reading TMD for about a year now, but didn't post much on the old boards.

Hey Everybody-

My name is Jay, and im addicted to games in general.
Been playing RPG's for 7 years, Warhammer for 4 years, ana magic for 10.( for those interested in 40k i play necrons, eldar, and chaos)

Ive been play magic competitivly since mirage block....made several top 8 at PTQs. Played in  few GPs, my composite rating is roughly 1750... so im not complete shit, but im no pro.

Ive always liked type 1 but never had the power, Until now. A few months back( 2 or 3) I managed to pick up a play set of drains for $60 total..... yeah that what i said (all english too). Since then ive dived heard first into vintage and have started running weekly proxy tournies fort eh game store i work at part time(yes i have a full-time m-f 9-5 real office speace-esque job). Ive also managed to pick up a play set of all the blue dual lands( i love control) and a few CE moxes to get the ball rolling....

I really love the current game of vintage i think from a deckbuilding perspective its facinating. I look forward to learnign more and helping other newbs with the knowledge that i have.

I want to thank Carl, Steve, Oscar( i know, i know) Zerbus for all providing a vast warehouse of info and articles for me to read and assimilate.

I play keeper and hulk.

My name is Andrew Giddings. It all started because of my neighbor, if he didn't show me magic i would probably wouldn't be a magic nerd speaking "code words" like Agro, combo, metagame, & other words that make no sence to new players. Very Happy  But anyway i am 18 and a decent player i supose, learning new things everyday, Like you can stifle a Animate dead, but you can't misdirect it to a different target Confused  ,i dunno...sometimes i just wanna killa judge. Been playing for 8 petty years, tryin to learn all the deck names and deck lists that i can, so i can be a better player. my AIM is Zerephel add me and yell at me when i am on when you wana talk. Peace.

Hey,

My name is Larry. I am a Mathematics major / athlete at Temple University in Philadelphia, though I am originally from Scranton, PA. Ive been playing since mid-94, but wasn't really serious about the game until 1997; then I stopped playing around Nemesis (mid 2000)? Although I attempted to play some after that, I was completely dissinterested. Then, out of the blue, I got the spark again last spring. I've been playing now since Scourge, and I've been playing some of the best magic of my life.

I enjoy the game more than ever now, I think (haha not sure; it's been fun the whole way). Mirrodin is brillant. My favorite formats are T1 and just about any form of limited except Sealed (I never get good cards!), but I'm up for anything really.

Favorite color is blue, favorite style of play is control, favorite card is Ancestral Recall. Share a set of P9 and drains, moat, abyss, etc. with my brother.

I am searching for that venue in Philly for great magic. It has to exist. If anybody knows a good place let me know.

Love this site!

Thanks,
-Larry

Hi I'm Bill and I live in Danvers, MA (north of Boston).
I'm 22, and I'm a graphic designer.  I skateboard sometimes, watch wrestling, and occasionally make stupid movies with my friends (see www.lucascuster.com if you're interested in the gory details).

I've been playing Magic on and off since Revised came out (since about '95, guess).  I have a lot of the "older" cards, so I'm interested in getting involved with the Type 1 scene (i don't know why, but I hate type 2...always have since Ice Age).  I found out about this website months ago, and have been continually reading the forums.  I haven't played in about a year, but I'm currently attempting build a half-ghetto hulk smash deck (no drains, some power, no LoA), in case I find a T1 tourney somewhere near home.

If anybody is playing/testing frequently in the Salem/ Beverly/ Danvers area and is lookin for another person to play, shoot me an email:

Hey my name is Arthur King.
My parents decided they liked the novel so much that they would name their kid after the legendary king of Camelot. It’s cool I dig it. I‘m 18 and I live in Scotch Plains, NJ.
I started playing magic in the 3rd grade and then got into it around Ice Age. Quit for a little while when “Summon So and So” became “Creature – So and So,” still heartbreaking. I came back right after the Urza Cycle after my cousins came in with some BROKEN cards and beat the crap out of my MBC deck.
I was a very competitive swimmer for most of the years of my life. I am more comfortable in a pool than on a field, more comfortable swimming than walking. I quit swimming after my senior year of HS, and now I just swim roughly an hour a day as opposed to 5.
I’m an ex druggie, with the exception of a few things involving needles, you name it, I’ve done it.
I attend Rutgers-Camden. Majoring in Kung Fu… no that’s not a major, but if it was, that’s what I would be majoring in considering I do Kung Fu roughly 15 hours a week not counting my personal training.

I'm Andrew.  Been playing on and off for about the past ~10 years (since high school).  I just recently started playing more competitively over the last two years.  Before that, it was strictly a casual game for me.

But, big tournaments are hard for me to come by, as I live in the wasteland of Illinois.  I'm about 1-2 hours from any major city and have no real organized scene to play in.  I usually have to travel a little ways to play or just settle for apprentice with friends.  Catch me on IM if you're ever up for a game.

I've played almost every archetype at some point in time.  My current fixation is dragon, but I'm itching to start playing slavery.  I lack workshops though, so control it shall be. Very Happy

T1 is by far my favorite format.  I play T2 and extended, but that's mostly because those are the only events I can ever find.  I've done the PTQ scene a bit and never miss a pre-release.  So, chances are you can find me in either St. Louis or Chicago when one of those rolls around.

Name is Ben.  I'm married to a cute Georgia Peach and interning in Portland this summer for an accounting firm there.

Grew up literally up the street from Wizos in Renton, WA.  Random---but I used to know Peter Adkison's mom, Linda.  Back then, my bro and I spent all our paperroute $ on Revised and Ice Age.  I really enjoyed my lured Craw G/Basilik deck before the flame died out around Alliances.  I just couldn't make it past FALLEN EMPIRES & HOMELANDS sets. Neutral  (read: Homarids)

This last summer between semesters at BYU, got back into magic around Scourge.  Dusted off the dual lands and found out that gobbos actually got good since [card]Goblin Snowman[/card] was around.

Currently playing Hulksmash, Landstill UR, Pox, Reanimator, and an all commons Kird Ape/Fling deck.  Enjoy vintage but currently a complete lack of Tourneys in this locale.

Hey there,

Lloyd here. My wife taught me to play around the time that Mercadian Masques came out. Got hooked on playing and running events. Most of the time I just judge events now, but I love to play when I get the chance. I got into Type I just so I could play my favourite deck, Rec/Sur(because they banned Survival of the Fittest from Extended). Hope to see you all around.

As Always,

Hi I'm Wesley,

I started playing around Stronghold, and was really into magic during the urza's block. Then interest faded a bit, and i joined back up during oddessy and have been playing even since.

I go to UCSD, as a Physics major and a Philosophy major, and im slowly working my way into competative type 1. Currently with my budget we play a modified version of type 1 (which involves unrestricted cheap *money-wise* artifact mana, to make up for the lack of power).

I currently have a WW, Gro-Hulksmash, Atog-Affinity, Madness, Slide, Bargain, Necro, and a fun Elf deck.

My name is Dan. I'm in Milwaukee, WI. I play T1 exclusively. I recently took 1st place at the first major T1 tournament in a while around here. My deck is Mask-Nought, suicide build. I was a member of MOTL for trading purposes, but was banned for some sort of posting violations (AKA accumulation of negative karma through some minor stuff) and being a relatively minor member my plea for reinstatement was totally ignored of course.

I hope to someday become a full member here, and I will continue to make intelligent, reasoned posts here. Maybe eventually I'll even write a primer or something. I love to play T1 on Apprentice, so if you're even interested, hit me up on AIM; screename HunterKiller403.

Hi, My name is Jesse Williams.

I'm from Winston-Salem, NC, USA.

I started playing magic fairly recently, the first set that came out after I learned to play was exodus.  I hate playing standard decks because at local games the only people I meet are noobs who think that the only good thing in magic is a giant creature.  So, after some years of deckbuilding and casual playing, I feel like taking a shot at a T1 tourney.  I've managed to get my hands on a good number of older cards through the time I've been playing, but haven't been able (and probably won't) to make the investment to get my hands on some P9 cards.

I play blue control and white weenie.

Hi!, My name is Fred and I'm From Quebec, Canada.

I play type 1 on a regular base in a semi powered metagame in the area. About once a month there is a type 1 tournament in a very know cardshop in the area (l'imaginaire).  About 40-70 players are showing up each time...

I use to be a hardcore ankh sligh partisan....a deck that won me some money last year....but the metagame being very different this year, I'm searching for a new archetype to play,

Being a budget player,  it is very important for me to metagame correctly, that is why I'm reading the forums on themanadrain.com to be aware of all the new decktype idea running around.

Hi Mtg gamers, my name is Gale Innes, better known as InsaneScrub.  I have been playing magic since the beginning of 1995, I started playing type one the following year after I had traded enough cards and had money.  I love to trade, make decks, and play in general most formats.  I don't like type 2 because of it's reflection of older decks, the speed, the mana base, and presently because they have changed the format so dramatically.

I am at heart am a control player, my favorite colors are blue and black, though I have been known to play green and white, I detest red for some reason or another.  I love cheese, but hate cards are annoying.  B2B, null rod, and chill, to name a few.  Cheese to me is a card that is insanely good, but not powerful enough to warrant restriction.  Cards that give you multiple effects like Fire/Ice, Gorilla Shaman, etc.

I hate broken decks and cards, they tend to lead to degenerate formats, dominating decks, like Academy, Long, and such decks that take the taste out of my mouth for magic.  If you play a turn 1 combo deck, and then you play a type 2 deck, you will understand.

I was born and have lived in Kansas City all my life, my greatest achievements are 6 type 1 tournaments in a row with "The Deck" undefeated, and 2nd at a masq block qualifier.  I had a rating of 1800+, but before I sold most of my cards I lost quite a few games of type 2 to exteremely bad luck.  I have won at least 60 tournaments in every format to date.  Though most of them were not sanctioned.

I consider myself a good deck builder and player, though I need lots of work to make it to the pro level.  I am not really a scrub, I just like the name, cause I wear a scrubby beard, though I do take the showers!  And I am make people laugh with my humor and charm.  Though I don't post much humor online.

To sum me up in a nut shell, I would say I am a quite friendly guy who loves magic, even to the point I have been called insane more than once by friends.  Very Happy

Hello!

My name is Adam de la Torre and I've been playing since revised (when you could still trade for Power).  I am married with kids and play as much as I can.  I've won a few local Type I tourneys but nothing spectacular. I Love trading, playing, and tweaking my deck.

I've been e-mailed by a few people who want to play, but all are welcome.  Anyone in the Phoenix area please get in touch with me.   Smile

Hey All,

Name is Anthony Blue, I'm from Pine City, Minnesota, and have played Type 1 in Cambridge at the Gamers Den, and in St Cloud at Utopia Games.... I also went on down to Hutchinson with my buddy Matt Jendro from Utopia to play in a tourney down there.

I've been playing Magic on and off due to thefts of card etc since '93. (first lot of cards were a Beta Starter and 10 Boosters)

I've been playing Casual for years, and recently dove into Type 2 and Type 1 play, still learning Type 1, so please dont scold me too harshly if I make some mistakes in some of my posts... I hope to become a full TMD member as I have put the time/money into the game to play my fav format, Type 1, which I prefer due to the more relaxed environment and greater sense of a community.

I have AIM, MSN, ICQ and Yahoo all through Trillian, my contact info is in my profile if anyone wants to drop me a line. Just let me know you're from TMD so I dont block ya

Thanks for putting this forum out there guys, its really a help for those that are looking to metagame their decks

My name is Jazzy Kat, well a lot of people actually call me that but if you ever need to know my real name it is Franco.

I started playing at the end of revised, but I have taken many breaks. I have stopped playing all the other formats and focus soley on T1.

I am a relatively oustpoken advocate for 10 proxies because I like hardcore competition. That said I have almost all of the power 9, drains, LOA and an extra ancestral so I am not a whiny have not.

I currently live in Los Alamos New Mexico and haven't played Magic with real cards for over a year. I show up very occaisionally on MWS to get my "game on".

My name is Robb Boros. I live in Iowa with my wife, two dogs, three cats, snake and will be welcoming a new addition sometime in December. I am the compliance coordinator for a very large North American Distribution company. I've been playing magic since just after Legends went out of print. I play nearly all sanctioned formats but have always had a fascination for Vintage, my favorite format. I am also the Editor for MTGnews.com.

My other interests lay in RPGs including, but not limited to Dungeons & Dragons, Hero System (Champions), and RIFTS to name a few. I own  over 40 RPGs and started gaming with AD&D in 1978. Aside from gaming, I enjoy sports, playing more so than watching. What I play is not nearly as important as the fact I am playing something. I've always had an artistic ability in drawing and sculpting, but have recently beguan dabbling in computer animation.
