This will be the first of a new tournament series coming to the New England area.  Next year, I plan to run 6-8 of these style tournaments between March and October.  While we may no longer have the Star City power 9's to attend, the return of the TMD open in Waterbury, and these tournaments will try to fill the void.

The Moose lodge is in the past, we're moving on up to the East side to a swanky hotel in lovely Holyoke, MA, courtesy of Mr. Chris Hatcher.  Hotel rooms will be readily available for all wanting to stay for both days.

Where:
The Holiday Inn
245 Whiting Farms Rd
Holyoke Ma
Hotel Phone #: 413 534 3311

Who:
Everyone's invited, even your hot mom.

What:
The return of the most epic tournament series to New England.
Saturday October 16th, Vintage 15 free proxy, $30 entry

Sunday October 17th, Vintage 15 free proxy, $25 entry

AND!

Sunday October 17th, Legacy, SANCTIONED, $25 entry

Both Vintage tournaments will be a cut to top 8 at less than 96 players, and a cut to top 16 if we have 96 or more players.
The Legacy tournament will be a cut to top 8.

Players will have the choice on Sunday whether to play Vintage or Legacy at the same cost.
Registration for both days starts at 10:00 am, with each tournament starting promptly at 11:00am.
On Sunday, the Vintage and Legacy tournaments will run concurrently assuring that there will be something for every magic player present to enjoy.

As was mentioned above, there is a special room rate catered specifically for players at this event.  When you call to reserve your room that weekend, mention the $89.00 rate for the Magic tournament.

Also, and probably the most important item, there is a full bar just a few feet away from the event room, just waiting for Mr. Jimmy Hangley to get piss drunk at.

The prize structure:
I decided the way I'm going to run these from now on to guarantee that I never have to pay out of my pocket to run a tournament again is to use a structured payout similar to a poker tournament.  Basically, my costs (the room and the judges) will be deducted from the prize pool.  Everything else goes into the pot and is allocated.

These payouts are the same for both days and for both the Vintage and Legacy events.

Approximate cash values with my costs subtracted:

I'm looking forward to bringing back regular tournaments to the area, hope to see everyone there!

Coming soon to a vintage community near you.

Keep your calendars open!

A community near us?   Someone is getting donkey punched if there is ANOTHER big event out East, but nothing in the REAL vintage capital (the midwest; home to YOUR vintage champion).

Let me go all math-like up in yo face.

1.) Waterbury > 114 participants
2.) Waterbury prizes > Gencon prizes for all but one person
3.) 0 = Cost to get in the door at Waterbury < Cost to get in the door at Gencon

The Midwest is not the real Vintage capital anymore.

Sorry.

Xtreme Games
2108 E. Grand Ave
Lindenhurst, IL 60046

www.xtremegamesonline.com

Xtreme Games monthly Vintage tournament. We will be holding it on
Sunday September 19th, 2010.

We will be giving away a unlimited Mox Sapphire for first place guaranteed!

All other prizes based on participation.

11 AM SIGN UP 12 NOON START  We will break after round 2 for a 1/2 hour lunch, provided we have 5 or more rounds

Hope to see all of you there!

25/25/25 rule:
Vintage 25-proxy unsanctioned tournament
$0.25 for each proxy after 25
$25 entry

I think this is proof enough that the Midwest is not the capital of Vintage.  No Vintage capital should ever need to have a proxy count that high and should never have the option for a 75 proxy tournament.

The first 10 people to book hotel rooms also get 10$ off their tournament entry day 1, and 5$ off their entry day 2.  just putting that out there.

Edited: forgot day 2 was only 25$.

Ok, Ray just called me and told me that they said the rooms are sold out. This is a false statement. If anyone has problems booking a room I will be at the hotel Tues,Wed,Friday of this week and I will get it handled the hotel isn't close to be sold out yet, Ask for either Me(Chris),Steve,Ken,or Mirim and we will get you taken care of.
