THE HYPE IS REAL!This year has been an epic BOON for Vintage as a format. We had Vintage Masters released on MTGO, the vintage super league is bringing a whole new level of visibility to the format. Nick Detwiler ran another phenomenally successful NYSE series, and finally we punctuated it all with the largest ever Vintage Championships this past weekend. There has never been a better time to continue or even start playing this format and I want to give you more opportunities to do that, so here we go! WHERE:Pandemonium Books and Games 4 Pleasant Street Cambridge, MA 02139 (617) 547-3721 WHEN:Saturday November 22nd Registration starts at 11:00. The event begins at 12pm. WHAT:Main Vintage Event! $30 entry fee10 Proxy free with Entry fee with the option to buy 5 additional proxies for $1 each Decklists required. PRIZES!Guaranteed! We will continue to offer the same 1k guaranteed prize support for this event. Pandemonium as usual will be stocked with vintage staples for your purchasing pleasure. Tarmogoyfs Dark Confidants Dual Lands Force of Wills Fetch Lands Wastelands Etc, Etc, Etc, you get the idea. Your credit will not go to waste. [/size] PROXY RULES:Acceptable Proxy Methods:1. Full Card Printed on Card Stock. (ie: you blanked a normal magic card and then ran it through a printer.) 2. Clearly Hand written fully blank card. (ie: You blanked a normal magic card and then neatly hand wrote all relevant information on it.) 3. Relevant Information neatly written on a basic land with Sharpie
**Note: Relevant Information is defined as follows:1. Card Name 2. Mana Cost 3. Card type 4. Full card text or a reasonable abbreviation 5. Power/Toughness/Loyalty where applicable
Failure to provide adequate proxies will result in a warning or game loss should a judge need to be called. I hate to be so harsh on this, but a lot of players put a lot of time and effort into making their decks and expect some effort from their opponents. If you have any questions regarding your proxies please approach myself or one of the other organizers or judges and have us check them before the tournament starts.

Gonna be in San Francisco that weekend. I know you want to make things more fun for people by having me not there Craig. I understand that my absence gives the other attendees hope of victory. I understand that. But to pry into my personal life to specifically select dates that I will not be present for? You've crossed a line sir.

Craig just wanted to throw me a really fancy, Vintage-themed birthday party. Don't think I don't appreciate it, buddy <3.

Awesome! My buddy and I are gonna come up. How strict are you guys with the proxies though? Is marker on a basic land cool?

Usually fine, as long as it is clear what the proxy is. Also make sure whatever basic lands you are using are different color than the basic lands that might usually be used in your deck. Basically I don't like to see someone hastily written in sharpie to the point of not being legible unless I pick the card up and read it. If your opponent can't tell what the card is at a glance from across the table, it's probably not a good proxy.

That's kind of a tall order, but most decks in Vintage are pretty cheap once you hit the 15 proxy mark. which this event is. However, even if you can't get a great deck to play, I'd advise at least getting something and playing as many rounds as you can. Vintage is a strange beast and it helps massively to play against the decks and see what they're doing.

Thanks to Keith I know this event exists, so I will be making my way up from North Providence after working third shift Friday. Can I reccomend a structure of 400 to 1st, 200 to 2nd, 100 to 3rd/4th, and 50 to 5th/6th/7th/8th. Split for 125 at top 8, 200 at top 4, and 300 each of you split the finals.

If Tony is on TMD, I'd love to talk to him about the merits of Sword of Fire and Ice. Never got around to telling him I was running it in conjunction with Batterskull.

I had a great time, lost to the Mono U Control player that made top 8 round 1 and to the U/B Tezzerator player Round 5 in the win and in match. I didn't feel like either game was unwinnable, I just needed to play tighter and to be slightly luckier.
I was playing Tezsper with Cruise over Dig and the deck just felt awesome to pilot. Oddly, Yawg's Will was probably one of the weaker cards throughout the day.

Had a good time too. Could have done better, but can't complain. Lost twice to Pyro Cruise (insanely broken) and once to Terra Nova. So I stay hungry for more experience and motivated to become better. Thanks to Craig and the judges for another great event.

Hey this is Tony. Now knowing you were running Batterskull and SoFI makes more sense. I can see both being a 4 turn clock (batterskull + the stoneforge vs a stoneforge w/ the sword). As you didn't need the lifelink (not like I was going to pressure you too much with a landstill list) drawing the extra card with the sword was the right call. It was really frustrating staring at the 1 of Academy ruins in my hand both games, and not drawing into 1 of my 4x ee's. As always, fun games with good people. Congrats to top 8.
