NO SPOILERS!!!
I saw it yesterday... the nostalgia is there, but doesn't rely on it to carry the film... it looks and feels like an original Star Wars film... I need more time to digest... It's better than the prequals... I can't say it's better than ROTJ... it MIGHT be on par... but I'm still in the hype bubble and need to have a few more viewings... no fan will be dissapointed... I can and will nitpick after a few weeks when spoilers have occurred.
May the Force be with you all!
Of course you can, it's easily better than ROTJ. I've got it right in there with ANH, all things considered. Really enjoyed it, some really good moments.

Also, what is "barry's land"? R&D label for a 6th basic land type (named for Barry Reich), generally considered to be colorless, to allow Domain 6. Was cut from Invasion for rules issues, resurfaced during Conflux development but was cut again for rules issues. If real, Wastes isn't Barry's land, it's a Basic with no supertype. You could fetch for it as for any WUBRG basic but it wouldn't count towards Domain.

Me, I simply don't think that this new mana symbol is very elegant. All I see is <>. I find it hard to spot & read. The eldrazi logo or something along these lines would have been nicer. You know something with a bit more design into it. With a solid background, neat contours... The new logo is just the top half of the old logo as the BfZ was the broken Hedron to Zendikar/Worldwake's solid versions.

But mtgo, painlands in standard making Wastes irrelevant to most decks, changing the drawback of every colorless producing land ever printed or to be printed into a power swing, and mass errata just seem to be too many things against the possibility of simply <>=colorless (1)=generic. Just a couple of counter points to this: Painlands don't make "Waste" irrelevant in the same way that dual lands don't make WUBRG basics irrelevant. There's a place for all types. As to the second point, as long as you don't require colorless in a cost, having a land produce or <> is largely irrelevant. This won't change anything for cards printed in the last 22 years with generic mana costs. It will only be relevant if your cost must be paid from a colorless source, thus cards that don't exist yet. I have no idea how MTGO will handle any of this.

then please explain to me how the wording on this card doesn't directly contradict this statement: Also what you are suggesting is not only complicated, it's OVERLY complicated. Wizards is fine making complicated cards, but when people pick up a card and cannot figure out what it means then they have lost enterprise value. I don't understand how anyone can look at a <> symbol and be like, "oh clearly that means I cannot spend mana of any color to activate this, but then I have to use two mana in any other combination of colors as well, including colorless." The simplest solution often is the actual solution. PLEASE SEE MY POST ABOVE: This is a new mana type that can always be used as colorless mana but is required mana for spells/abilities with it in it's cost. It's unique and is always colorless. Previously there were 6 different types of mana you could have in your mana pool. Red, Green, Blue, White, Black, and Colorless. With these new cards, there is now a 7th type of mana you can have in your mana pool. I have no idea what Wizard's intends to call this "specific but colorless" mana type. If I had to speculate, I think it'll be called "Void" mana. Forget Vintage for a moment and look at the current Standard decklists. The format is so colour friendly that people playing wedge decks are splashing a 4th colour! It's pratically Alara-era 5-color Cruel Control. The majority of that comes from Khans (with some help from Battle duals) but now we're deep into the Zendikar storyline and the current block cards are a footnote in the huge carry-over from the powerful Khans cards we've been feasting on for the past year. Zen block is all about Devoid & colourless but what does that matter if you don't have to make any significant effort to alter your manabase to include these cards? How do you encourage players used to fetching duals and playing tri-lands from the previous block to play cards that really care about colourless in this one? You could do non-basic hate but everyone despises that and answering the strengths of your previous block with straight hate cards in the new one isn't going to be welcomed, especially as you're boosting said manabases with non-basics from BFZ, you'd also be hating inside the block. What you could do is force people, who have no issue paying a turn 4 Rhino 1WBG, into paying another card <>WBG (presuming <> is colorless, not Void/Snow). In this instance, You can't just run out WBG sources and add 1 of whatever extra mana you have lying about as you do for your Rhino, you actually need that <> to be colourless. An Elf or Swamp wont do. This means a few things: Your mana base must produce colorless in addition to WBG (plus the 4th color splash you're currently running because it's so darn simple in this format) and that colorless is currently only fetchable into play tapped (Evolving Wilds) or off a draw; or You have to run Origins Pain lands to ensure both colorless and 2 of your colors (and that comes with a ping and isn't serchable into play); or include cards that will search them into play of which there are 7 in the current standard, none of which see competitive play, and all of which put that <> basic into play tapped. Now all you need is to provide cards that encourage players to drop 4-color manabases in favor of something that costs <><>U (or whatever), a cost that's almost unplayable in the decks at the top of the current standard pile. From a Standard perspective, forcing players to pay colorless makes a huge amount of sense both in complexity (a small additional layer but one that changes everything) & storyline. This interpretation makes perfect flavor sense for the current storyline, it cleans up a hazy area of "Generic" and "colourless" mana for less experienced players and opens up colorless for exploitation as a 6th color with a built in restriction: the requirement to pay colourless to play spells and activate abilities. The only other concern WotC have is balancing for Modern. They don't want to drop anything too abusable into the format, but again, they could print just about anything if they push the colorless "requirement" sufficiently. A Monster at <><><><><> could be sufficiently pushed knowing that in order to be able to play that card on turn 5 the current solutions are colorless basics & mana rocks, zero other spells. Deckbuilders would need to trade off the ability to consistantly play high "colorless-required" spells against including colors and all the play restrictions that trade-off implies. Eternal? WotC don't test for eternal, it stabilises itself through extremely high power level entry requirement and the Restricted list. They also just restricted an extremely powerful tool in the Workshop arsenal. [puts on tin-foil hat] Were they nixing an obstacle that would allow Workshop decks to exploit an influx of powerful <> cards?[/tin-foil hat]

Isn't this essentially just adding a sixth color to Magic?
Depending on what they actually do with it (because everything is speculation up to now) but it seems like it's essentially a formatting change to add a symbol that requires you to use actual colorless mana rather than generic mana. I'm wondering if it's going to be retroactive, Sol Ring costing Generic and producing <2> colourless?

Adding 2 per spell seems like a lot. Going : "Stack-Land, Saphire, Brainstorm, Add 4 (or 6/8 if someone Missteps/Forces)" seems like a lot.
Edit: Actually, it would be an interesting card to add to the environment as you'd strive to balance the ability to generate colourless mana (meaning instants) with something to sink it into on a consistant basis (X spells, Delve cards, artifacts & colourless activated abilities)

This card is probably super cheap online. I'll try it out and report back so we have something to go on. That's if my opinion is worth anything.
Edit: I don't think it's worth the 2.50 a piece to try out. I mean, if you're playing a deck with a decent number of counterspells, like most colored decks in Vintage do, then the chances of exiling a land or a counterspell that is worthless at that time is pretty high. The card seems particuliarly unsuited to any sort of counterspells, however, if you do test in a UR shell, look at using BEBs, REBs etc. as your counterspells to allow you to "hit" more often. That's still probably not enough. This seems unlikely to see any sort of Vintage play outside of Ru Burn, someone hoping 6-land RG Stompy still works, or, I don't know, desperation blockers in a storm shell? No, probably not.

Oath really fuels its abilities, but its a huge mana hog and you likely want to cast it with mana open as well, so i do not love it.
Could see it as a 1 of in salvagers though, since that deck can very often get its grind on if the combo fails and has plenty of mana to spend. With infinite mana and without a spellbomb loop this guys is still an infintley large, vigilant, tap your opponents creatures that can protect itself beater.
Where are you getting an infintley large number of instant or sorcery cards in your graveyard?

Haven't seen these mentionned yet. Not so much power as good additional tools, the second especially so in an enviornment that traditionally boasts less creatures. The Mardu Woe-Reaper will likely see little play in Vintage, more in Legacy but an uncommon Savannah Lion with an exile ability is worth looking at even if "Warrior" doesn't provide much support as a class. Abzan Beastmaster 2G Creature - Shaman Scout At the beginning of your upkeep, draw a card if you control the creature with the greatest toughness or tied for the greatest toughness.

You also can't Forgemaster or Welder creatures into play (nice offensive use of Welder), stops Narcomeba coming into play off Dredge if anyone still plays those, Sneak Attack in Legacy, any blink effect now exiles the creature.
Big positive is that Flash gives you responses to the spells rather than being a static preventative measure that your opponent can figure into his plays as a given.

The Bad: - 4 mana is a lot to pay for what might be only one Welder activation, even if it's a haste version of that ability. - His ult pretty much does nothing. - His first ability does nothing in some situations, except for give him +2 loyalty. - His first ability also requires you to discard first and then draw, which means you are going off less information than before.
It's a moot point because you'll never ultimate him but regrowing Black Lotus, Petal, Stax, Tanglewire, Golem into play at EOT for free seems playable. Needing 5 turns only hitting his +2 in order to do it is what makes his ultimate unplayable. Also you can +2 him and discard 0 if you have nothing (or nothing you want to discard) just to tick him up but you're probably not playing him out if that's the case because you likely have other problems that a blank card for 3 doesn't solve. Cute but unplayable, at a pinch a 5th Goblin Welder but who really needs 5 Goblin Welders?

: Add for each creature that attacked this turn. While no-where near the power level of the other suggestions, this creates very interesting tension for your and opponent's attack phases. "Opponent has "Red Land" untapped but nothing else, how many creatures do I attack with?" Give a red deck mana or attack? I like the idea of this kind of mechanic very much. For the "Land in Graveyards " version, if it's being based on the results of Ston Rain tactics, surely it should be Land in opponent's greveyards? With Fetches in every format, this is likely to be relevant everywhere while not being OP.

You know you've been playing too lmong when yu start brainstorming ways to close the multi-mana land cycles started in Urza's block. Urza's gave us Academy, Sanctum & Cradle. Black since got Coffers & Crypt. These "fixed" lands aren't on the power level of their predecessors, but both are very black and very thematic and powerful in the right circumstances. Red screwed the pooch on this cycle once again. What's your submission for the broken red Legendary land or the fixed non-legendary equivalent? Red Legendary Land : Add for each non-basic land you control. Red non-Legendary Land RN-LL comes onto the battlefield tapped. , : Add for each Sorcery card in all graveyards.

I'm always intrigued on the rare occasions these lawsuits come up. Magic & YGO, and to a certain extent Pokemon, have been such dominant players in the market for so long and have covered such a myriad of rules, game formatting, layouts & mechanics that surely there's an argument that every subsequent TCG is a clone. Hex isn't the first to have an online version going hand in hand with mechanics similiar to Magic. Why haven't there been more of these kinds of cases?
TCGs (and DBGs) are so parisitic now anyway, how can you start to argue after 25 years that there's any sort of infringement if you haven't been chasing every other game for infringement up to now?
Look at Force of Will TCG: it's openly marketed to position itself in the apparent age gap between YGO & MTG even down to the mechanics: tapping, mana, the stack, trap cards and others I probably missed in my quick presual of the samples I flicked through. It's essentially Magic with Hero cards (WoW), trap cards (YGO) and different art.

Theft is just getting out of control. Why steal cars when a backpack containing a pimped cube is comparable in price to a Corvette? Cars have VIN, beta duals and power have nothing comparable. My collection with no power, just pimp EDH & random good modern cards is worth just a little more than the resale value of my wife's car, a 2 year old Berlingo (just my Rafiq deck is worth more than my own p.o.s. banger so there's no real value comparison there). I haven't told her this but I think she's starting to suspect after our water heater broke last September. This was just after we'd paid school fees, annual social/music club fees & booked our flights home for Christmas so we were pretty much dry. It's always a really expensive period and generally maxes out our post summer reserves. The water heater going just then was perfectly bad timing. I opened my folders and sold my only Wasteland (player rewards) and enough fetches until I had enough to cover the cost of plumber. Sure, it's only cardboard/a hobby and I certainly made a profit, but it wasn't on my terms and it pained me to do it. It felt really good to be able to do that though: take a part of a non-essential hobby and finance a necessary and unforseen expense at the drop of a hat. On the other hand, prices have almost doubled in the past 6 months for everything I sold, so a part of me really wishes I could have dropped them now instead to buy my own Roy Benson Horn and not have to rent a 5th hand Yamaha from the school.

These days, the Vintage decks are nowhere near as bad as the EDH decks. I proxy everything my playgroup will let me. In Vintage, that's ten cards. Doomsday with ten proxies isn't too bad...maybe...$1k? What kills me is EDH. I bought in back before prices skyrocketed and I bought things I knew would go up: ie. Crypts, Drains, Ravages of War, Temporal Manipulation, Beta versions of staples. So I'll pull out Maelstrom Wanderer...there goes $5k ignoring the foils (ie. Judge Foil Regrowth was only $20 when I bought it).
Every time I walk down the street with 4 EDH decks in my backpack, I wonder why I have an easily-stolen card strapped to my back.
What do you use to track the value of your decks/cards? Just trawl for whatever prices you're looking for at a given time or do you have an automated way of tracking your collection? If I'm not watching specifically, I don't notice things like Regrowth jumping to $40 or Foil Coalition Relic jumping to $60. Tappedout does a low/avg/high price guide based of TCGplayer prices but doesn't take into account editions, foils or condition. It can't account for your deck containing Regrowth @ $40, not $2 or Brainstorm @ $250*, not $3. *Insane price for a foil common, even in pre-large-print-run times.

BlueIntellect Helix - Instant Scry 2. Whenever you cast a blue spell, if Intellect Helix is in your graveyard, you may return it to your hand.Boom! The future of cantrips? I think so. Holy crap is this good. Is the the card that Frantic Search was waiting for? This is kind of similar to Sensei's Divining Top, but weaker in a world where Deathrite Shaman is so dang plentiful. This is the blue Squee. Intellect Helix would never be printed by WotC, although I think it would be an exceptionally interesting card to have in the format. Pity. I saw this and went running for the real BNG spoiler. I couldn't believe I had missed it! Well done, great OP

Gild 3b Sorcery Rare Exile target creature. Put a colorless artifact token named Gold onto the battlefield. It has "Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool."
How is this even a rare? Unconditional exile with a mana benefit in Black. Couldn't have it at that cost as an uncommon in limited.

Is no one excited about these?
Given the flavor-infused design, I wouldn't be surprised to see these tokens get made by a Midas-like figure. Maybe a Legendary creature that blows up artifacts and turns them into gold....? I'm excited about them but only for storyline purposes. I hadn't considered Midas, I went with a Charon-like figure giving you 2 coins when another creature dies or something to do with the Returned/zombies on Theros and their masks. http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/263cGold masks cover void faces. When a human dies on Theros, a funerary mask of dark clay is customary, used to "frame" the identity of the deceased for Athreos. So when a mortal destroys his or her identity to leave the Underworld, that mortal must fashion a mask to stand in for it. Gold is the most common material in Erebos's realm, so it has become customary for the Returned to symbolically replace their funerary masks (and by proxy their identities) with beautifully crafted gold masks that cover their changed faces and function as surrogate, albeit flimsy, identities.

A few too many working pieces so very much a pet deck idea but what about UG Elfball with this, Glimpse, Intruder Alarm & Cradle/Academy. I'm not sure that with the new legendary rule you'd actually need a system to untap your Cradles as you can chain Crop Rotations/drawn Cradles together for mana however at some point you will run out of land drops.

Trust me. For the first. Return to Zendikar for the second. Bolas Strikes Back (or Revenge of the Elder Dragon) for the third. "The Kobold, Unexpectedly Sacrificed to a Huge Dragon" for the start of the reboot with Squee getting easter-egg killed in the background of every battle scene to tie it all together. Wonder if they will just jump straight in with Jace et al or get all 80's with a gamer heading home from FNM only to get mugged and ignite his spark, start walking the planes, rescue the princess and be back in time for tea........

I'd not play sundial, it's a dead card. If you can play griselbrand against a non-creature deck, you can activate it twice and have 14 extra cards for the price of 2. If you play against a creature deck and can block one... wow! Though that may be unimpressive in itself it's still a free 7 cards....
