The site was deleted as well, and all with no prior warning. TMD was forced to restart from scratch, this time hosted by one of Leviat's friends, although Leviat was able to use the backups to create the archives. Later, TMD was hosted by Leviat himself until it was moved to its present location on the SCG server. You sir have a freaky good memory.

Lottery Charm Instant Choose a number. Put cards from the top of your library into your graveyard until you reveal a nonland card. If the number of cards revealed (including the land card) is equal to the chosen number, choose one -- Add {R}{R} to your mana pool; or deal 3 damage to target creature or player; or destroy up to two target artifacts. I think this must be a mistake. Let me walk through it. I choose the number 1. I flip over my next card which happens to be a lightning bolt. It's a nonland card so I stop. I revealed one card so I'm good to go? I like the original wording a lot better except that it should be your opponent's deck that gets revealed so as to prevent any sort of stacking and such. (Plus revealed cards should be put on the bottom of opponent's deck).

This is actually the answer to your question as well. The doppelganger can only reach the cards from its own triggered ability. In your case, the second Kaho is equal to the doppelganger Kaho.
I disagree. The FAQ is merely illustrating that cards removed by a non-Kaho creature are not accessible. To take my question one step further, if you are correct and it does follow the Imprint ruling, then does that mean if someone were to Flicker my Kaho, I would no longer be able to access the cards originally removed by him?

Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Kaho, Minamo Historian
|

From the FAQ:Kaho, Minamo Historian {U} Legendary Creature -- Human Wizard 2/2 When Kaho, Minamo Historian comes into play, search your library for up to three instant cards and remove them from the game. Then shuffle your library. , : You may play a card with converted mana cost X removed from the game with Kaho without paying its mana cost. * If an effect takes a card Kaho removed from the game out of the removed-from-the-game zone (such as with a Wish from the _Judgment_(TM) set or with Kaho's own ability), then you can't use Kaho's ability to play that card. * If another player gains control of Kaho, that player may play any of the cards removed from the game with Kaho's ability. * Kaho's activated ability refers only to cards removed by its triggered ability. If another effect removed the cards, you won't be able to use Kaho to play those cards. (In judge-speak: Vesuvan Doppelganger copying Arc-Slogger and then copying Kaho -- with a Mirror Gallery in play -- won't let the Vesuvan-Sloggered cards get played with the Vesuvan-Kaho.) Situation: I cast Kaho, when it comes into play I remove Ancestral, Mystical Tutor, and Brainstorm. My opponent then StoP's him. The following turn I cast another Kaho removing nothing. Can the second Kaho play the spells removed by the first Kaho? What I Think: I believe it can since this is not an Imprint ability and the cards were removed by a Kaho.

On a side note, I'd normally say wasteland is the best answer to bazaar, but the decks that run wastelands tend to lose to Zombie Infestation. Fish, Bird Sh*t and staxs auto lose to that card.
I was thinking the opposite actually. I would run a Needle IN Oath and Bazaar decks naming Wasteland.

Since I'm out of college I haven't been able to join FaceBook, but I really like the idea and it's implementation. Well, I've recently heard about Google's Orkut which is along the same lines. But like many of Google's beta projects, it's an Invite-Only right now. So... can someone with an account please send me an invite? (I'll PM you with my email if you can). Thanks !

I think you guys are missing an important point. If you are going to TwinCast your opponent's YawgWiN, then chances are you could also have countered it since you have control of the game at that point anyways and your opponent will still lose. To me, TwinCast is just a win more card. How many cards really exist where's it worth TwinCasting rather than countering or misdirecting? YawgWiN and Tinker... Skeletal Scrying maybe... anything else? This card is really situational and will not likely pull you out of a losing situation.

Come on guys. In almost all these situations, is fork really any better than a Mana Drain or even a Counterspell in hand?
Sure, you can copy your opponents Ancestral or YawgWiN. Heck, you might even copy a Tinker (without having to sacrifice, so hot). But other than those rare occurences, what else will you gain?
It a fun card and I hope it does see some play, but in general, I think people are way over hyping this.
If you copy a tutor, you'll most likely go for a counter anyways to hit your opponents. Since most of the (good) utility spells are designed to be used at the end of your opponents turn, it's just not that great. I think it's best use will most likely be in Mono-U as Counterspell 9-12...

I believe YOU are mistaken here... I checked many times for official wordings before I spent any time playtesting. So I am. My apologies; that'll teach me for not reading the FAQ and just the spoilers. I was intrigued by the card before, now I'm very interested in its possibilities.

I playtested (obviously just a few games) this card in a couple different builds already -- and I must say, getting to 4 spells is not that difficult. There are certain nuances with the card though. (eg, 2 spells played this turn, i cast erayo (3rd spell) -- In response my opponent brainstorms (4th spell) and thus when erayo resolves he cannot flip because the 4th spell this turn is passed) Then you playtested incorrectly, YOU have to be the one to play four spells. The spells your opponent has cast do not count. -- Oops, wrong. I suck As was mentioned, this is obviously not worth including in a storm combo deck, and with Arcane Laboratory, you end up creating a deck that is designed to hurt itself (a deck with cantrips that locks by only playing one spell a turn?). It IS a pretty hard lock, but very situational (play card A, then meeting condition B, finally play card C). I would see this guy being a fun addition into a Grow style deck where he helps out with Grow's low number of actual HARD counters.

Pfft. The point isn't to go pro, the point is that I'm not a complete fucktard. Winning a 9 person game doesn't mean you're not "a complete fucktard" What the hell is wrong with you people? Seriously... is there something about magic that turns all you people into giant fucking dicks? Is it because you have nothing to stick it into? If people don't start being a little nicer around here, I'm just going to start taking away posting privs with or without Z's permission. Hulk, consider yourself warned by me.

Tainted Pact InstantRemove the top card of your library from the game. You may put that card into your hand unless it has the same name as another card removed this way. Repeat this process until you put a card into your hand or you remove two cards with the same name, whichever comes first. 1) No, you can only choose the most recent card removed from the top of you library (unless...) 2) You are correct, if two of the same cards are revealed, you cannot choose anything and the spell effect ends.

Alright, in Latin class today we translated a couple of sentences by Seneca, which I took as the final sign that Chloe was going to come in second this time. Seneca it is. This is probably a little late... but my friend Seneca is a hard-core Type-2 player... I would go with Squishy.

Forgive my cynicism, but this thread is pretty empty of any real content. All I see is a thread with Whisper GAT and Tinker+Colossus. I'm not technically a moderator so you're safe from my wrath but I'm tired of yet another thread with "XXX is gone so YYY is good again [Post outdated decklist] ". If you're going to post on the non-newbie forum, you should really try to post something worth discussing rather than a deck that already has/had a billion threads about it. In short, innovate, not regurgitate. Oh... and... If I had to make the sickening choice of running GAT with drain or force, I would choose drain. You would be wrong. Force is much more important then Drain for GAT so stop showing your own inexperience. But that's for another thread, I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you on this thread.

Well, VMware might be a little more than what you need, not too mention that it's not free. If you want to go the virtualization/emulation approach, then VMware or QEmu is what you want. However, I would first go with WINE which is a Windows emulator. You can run a surprising number of applications through it and they will run a lot faster since there won't be a need to virtualize any hardware. PS: If you go with QEmu, you will want to (but don't have to) compile the accelerator module for it which does need to be compiled against your kernel sources (that'll convert it from an emulator to a virtualizer). Also keep in mind that when going this route you will need to install Windows XP into a virtual harddrive as well which can be a little involved when you attempt to hook the virtual network into your real network.

It cannot cost 2R or 1RR because then it is horrible and strictly worse than any of a large number of land-d spells.
No, because you forget that's an instant. Instant speed Land-D is somewhat nutty. After looking over the thread and reading the comments, I'll put my (useless) vote behind: Red Sinkhole version 3 2R Instant Destroy target land that was played this turn But that's off-flavor from the original card which means a mod should either delete all our off-topic messages or lock the thread.

My point is that two mana is too low for guaranteed land destruction.
Even if it could hit your own land? Standstill is 2cc for a guaranteed drawing of three cards and Wizards was okay with that. I kind of like the enchantment idea. You might even make a little more powerful with... Shaky Ground 1R Enchantment Whenever a land comes into play sacrifice ~this~, if you do, that land's controller must sacrifice two lands. This doesn't prevent them from getting the mana but does hit two lands and I still don't see it as overpowering.
