Sounds like a cool deck, could someone link the videos that were referenced?
2  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Is Your Current Vintage Deck Proxy Free? on: January 14, 2016, 04:28:30 pm
Proxy free.
I own a playset of all the power, duals, fetches, workshops, and bazaars.  Basically if it's played in Vintage I have at least four of it.  I hate to take decks apart, unless they are terrible,  and move cards around between ideas so it was just easier to have extras.

Steve Menendian wrote an incredibly helpful book on the topic of Gush and I believe it's still available at eternalcentral.com.  If you plan on playing the card Gush I would highly recommend purchasing his book!

6  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: SCG Cutting Back Legacy - How Does This Impact Vintage? on: November 05, 2015, 10:20:59 am
Legacy and Vintage have been on the decline for years, Vintage more so.  I know the champs events keep getting more popular every year but the local type events have a hard time firing.  My LGS runs a legacy event every month but it rarely gets over 10 people.  The player base now wants all cards to be cheap and they want WOTC to reprint everything so "everyone gets a trophy."  Cost is the biggest factor when trying to get new players to switch from Standard to Eternal formats, IMO Modern is not eternal by the way.  A standard player looks at the mana base and instantly scoffs at the prices or duals and complains its only for "rich" people.  Proxy events help fight this but I personally don't want to play in proxy events when I own the real cards.  I know that's a me problem and probably not the right attitude to have but I feel slighted if I lose to a "fake" card.  In the end SCG will determine what formats make them the most amount of money and sell the most amount of product.  The best way for the eternal player to fight this is to show to all the Sunday classic events that SCG puts on and voice our opinion with attendance numbers.  *sign*....steps off soapbox.

Maybe this is a dumb idea but would a Lab Maniac be worth considering at all?  Mill yourself eot and win on the draw?

Milling the opponent wins just as well and doesn't require a Maniac.

I was thinking about the Eldrazi situtation

Does anyone know how this event went?  I was unable to attend but was curious on the attendance since this was a proxy event and not their typical sanctioned event.

11  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Free Podcast] So Many Insane Plays Podcast Episode 47: Champs Review on: September 09, 2015, 01:13:00 pm
I had skipped the Ito / DeMars match initially and this podcast convinced me to go back and watch it. I highly recommend anyone else to do the same - that match is dense with interesting decisions.

Where did you watch that match?  Card Titan only has matches 4-6, 8-finals uploaded on YouTube.  I was really wanting to see all the other rounds!

Thanks!

13  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / What's the best Vault/Key Deck? on: August 13, 2015, 09:20:03 am
I have been wanting to play a Vault/Key deck but can't decide what way to approach it.  Is it best in a Grixis shell or Bomberman or Oath, or a mix of everything?  I think a Gushbond deck might be the best but I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else thinks.
14  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: New Mulligan Rule on: June 30, 2015, 07:10:05 am
I bet Delver of Secrets will flip more now.  A delver on the play after a mulligan and scry seems busted.

Does anybody know if the vintage start time will accommodate someone who makes top 8 for legacy and also wants to play vintage?

I think it did last year.  Legacy Top 8 started @8 and the Vintage event started at 10 if I remember correctly.  I know it doesn't leave you with much time but that's a nice problem to have!
16  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: New Mulligan Rule on: June 29, 2015, 01:26:06 pm
I understand the desire to alleviate the frustration and effect on game play mulligans have, but this seems really broken in the eternal formats.

I agree, I play Shops and this seems really unfair.

18  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] The History of Vintage: 2003 on: June 24, 2015, 09:19:47 am
Steve-  I just finished the first chapter and wow things were different when the game first started!  I'm hooked on this series and can't wait to continue reading.  To add an interesting story, I spoke with Jeff Menges about a year ago and asked how he was chosen to do the art for Bazaar.  He said that he had done some work with Wizards before and he assumed when Arabian Nights was in development that he would be contacted to do some of the art.  Other artists were selected and they spoke to one another but when Jeff was asked what cards he was doing he replied, "I was never contacted."  Jeff called and asked if he could be apart of this set and the art designer only had one card left that wasn't assigned, Bazaar of Baghdad.  I thought that was an interesting story about an iconic card.

Does anyone know when/if they will have VIP registration?  I thought it was worth the extra money last year and would like to do it again this year.
20  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: August 15, 2015 Lafayette, IN on: June 03, 2015, 07:37:13 am
That makes sense.  I guess I'm bummed there are not more sanctioned tournaments locally, but like you said, it gets more people interested in the format and expands the prize pool.
21  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: August 15, 2015 Lafayette, IN on: June 02, 2015, 10:17:16 am
After having a good turnout with a sanctioned event why would they have a proxy one??  If this were sanctioned I would be there no question but not terribly interested otherwise.  Am I wrong in thinking this way?

25  Eternal Formats / Workshop-Based Prison / Re: New Workshops player on: May 07, 2015, 07:08:32 am
I don't run Precursor but I'm guessing it can be both offensive and targets for Foregemaster.  I have seen a few lists that run it but haven't heard why.  Dismember is a good sideboard card to take out other Lodestones, Foregemasters, or maybe hit a Mentor.
26  Eternal Formats / Workshop-Based Prison / Re: New Workshops player on: May 06, 2015, 09:45:10 am
This is the list I have been running and enjoy it.  I finished first at a side event for GPNJ and third in a non proxy event and faced a good mix of decks.  I feel that even though the Metalworkers are somewhat of a liability they can just win the game on their own with the Staff of Domination combo.  Mirror match Phyrexian Revokers are a little bit of a pain but they can't hit all the threats so I feel well positioned against opposing Shops decks.  It's hard for me to build a Shops deck and not auto include Black Lotus but I know it may not always be correct.  I have found that it usually helps to draw and even later in the game its not terrible.  I don't play online so I don't have the most amount of experience with the deck but when I get to play I usually do well for what that's worth.

Main Deck (60)
Creatures (20)

2 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Metalworker
4 Lodestone Golem
4 Kuldotha Forgemaster

1 Sundering Titan
1 Blightsteel Colossus
Spells (22)

1 Sol Ring
2 Lightning Greaves
2 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Sphere of Resistance
1 Trinisphere
2 Staff of Domination
Lands (18)

1 City of Traitors
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
3 Ancient Tomb
4 Mishra's Factory

27  Eternal Formats / Workshop-Based Prison / Re: Shops with Metalworker Deck Help on: April 28, 2015, 03:09:07 pm
I think the Cavern idea is good and will make the change.  It may be wrong to have the Metalworkers in but I have been able to combo with Staff of Domination on a regular basis.  Plus staff lets me slow down other decks like Oath and Tinker based decks by tapping down their threats when they come up.
28  Eternal Formats / Workshop-Based Prison / Re: Shops with Metalworker Deck Help on: April 13, 2015, 07:37:53 am
I finished 3rd in a non proxy event on 4-11 with the second list.  I lost to Oath in the semi finals, game three, despite landing a turn one Trinisphere.  Several bad draws later and I'm out.  Luckily the man I lost to won the event and the Time Vault prize, congrats Tim!
29  Eternal Formats / Workshop-Based Prison / Re: Shops with Metalworker Deck Help on: March 26, 2015, 05:59:49 pm
Unfortunately there is virtually no Vintage scene in my area.  I play against the same two decks in Dredge and Pyromancer/Delver, I though that shops is good against most weak against few so when I do get to travel to events I'm relatively safe.  I know that doesn't help the progress of the deck but I play at GenCon and Vintage Champs every year so that's most of my exposure.
30  Eternal Formats / Workshop-Based Prison / Shops with Metalworker Deck Help on: March 26, 2015, 01:53:33 pm
I went 4-0 at a Vintage side event at GPNJ with this list:
Main Deck (60)
Creatures (16)

4 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Metalworker
4 Lodestone Golem
1 Steel Hellkite
2 Wurmcoil Engine
1 Blightsteel Colossus
Spells (25)

1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
3 Chalice of the Void
1 Sol Ring
2 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Sphere of Resistance
1 Trinisphere
2 Crucible of Worlds
2 Staff of Domination
4 Tangle Wire
Lands (19)

1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
2 City of Traitors
3 Ancient Tomb
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Mishra's Workshop
4 Wasteland
Sideboard (15)
1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
2 Ghost Quarter
4 Tormod's Crypt
2 Thorn of Amethyst
2 Dismember
1 Phyrexian Metamorph
1 Witchbane Orb
1 Batterskull
1 Sundering Titan

I have since changed to this version:

Main Deck (60)
Creatures (20)

2 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Metalworker
4 Lodestone Golem
4 Kuldotha Forgemaster
1 Duplicant
1 Steel Hellkite
2 Wurmcoil Engine
1 Sundering Titan
1 Blightsteel Colossus
Spells (22)

1 Black Lotus
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
3 Chalice of the Void
1 Sol Ring
2 Lightning Greaves
2 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Sphere of Resistance
1 Trinisphere
2 Staff of Domination
Lands (18)

1 City of Traitors
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
3 Ancient Tomb
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Mishra's Workshop
4 Wasteland
Sideboard (15)
1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
2 Ghost Quarter
4 Tormod's Crypt
2 Thorn of Amethyst
2 Dismember
1 Phyrexian Metamorph
1 Witchbane Orb
1 Batterskull
1 Sundering Titan

I'm stuck because is Metalworker/Staff of Domination combo better than having more lock pieces?  Should the list cut the Metalworkers and add (2) Thorn and (2) Revoker?  Any help would be very much appreciated!
