Hi MISTERTREK! I will be driving 2 and a half hours to get to this store, it would be helpful if you could post your phone number so that one could call you to verify such an event and ask some questions. Your contact info is also not on your website which also makes it difficult to locate the location of your store. Thank you for your time.

The seller has pretty good feedback, however very little of it is recent. This auction seems really fishy to me. It's a picture of a Beta Volc, but he says it's CE. I asked him about it, and he said (CCP'ed) "Hi, Yes, its the actual card. Im selling this card for someone else and he told me to list it as a collector edition card. thats why i sell it as it is ." So, I don't even know what that means.

I asked him what the card really was and said he didn't know and that it is possible that is rebacked, fishy.

I think it is Yawgmoth's Will
But with Black Lotus you can play Yawgmoth's Will bring it right back again turn 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???

Well I also like dropping turn one Berserk Murdolonts and turn one Trained Armadons.

Edit on Murdolont.

Voltaic Key is the best candidate. Why was it restricted, is the big question. Any body know?

Hi, I haven't posted very much on this site but I have been here long enough to figure out that since this format seems to have a strong tie to ebay in some respects, and that there have been several complaints about cardboard fraud and magic bilking on ebay. Why don't we have a thread for bad ebay users, so people will know names to watch for, and/or a thread dedicated how to identify fake cards from real one and bad sellers from good ones? I think that any person playing magic that ventures into a financial fiasco while buying a Vintage card and losing several hundred dollars will be sick of the format and stop playing. That is an extreme situation that could happen but I think it could very well happen unfortunately with more and more fake cards being pumped out in to the open market.....

So! Why not an advising thread of what to do and not do in buying cards?

Well we could pay him in monopoly money. This guy lives in Canastota, New York, and I am wondering if anybody has gotten stuff from him they could clarify this. Now since fakes have gotten extremely good and/or people are still indeed buying fakes, since we have a "fake card thread" maybe we should have a sticky thread of bad ebay users. A list that is updated consistently and everybody can pitch in and state the arguement and evidence against the supposed fraudulent ebay seller. Or maybe a thread just to discuss sellers (Both ebay and big vendors), since Vinatge magic has such expensive cards and I have seen a number of sceptical Magic the Gathering players that have complained about the issue of bad sellers and getting ripped off. I myself have been ripped off by sending a cashiers check to the seller of $90.00 for a beta Tundra, and if I had known that paying through something other than paypal is a bad idea, I would have done otherwise. What do you guys think? A Sticky thread to give advice to buy and selling cards on e-bay and to other vendors? I think that the accumulation of complaints is sufficient to bring this idea up.

HEllo!! I have run this deck and went to a tournament with it at Mr. Robillard's (I think I spelled it right) Roland Chang's magical rejuvination tournament at the Beanie Exchange. First what I would like to say is that meddling mage is a pain in the bottom to get out in three color fish, I believe the reason that it worked in UBW fish is because of its synergy with semi-mana fixer Aether Vial. I never ran it again, I stuck to Kataki for random Stax decks, Gorilla Shaman for Moxes/mana denial, 3/4 Jotun Grunts for Combo/Ichorid/Dragon/Slaver(Welder Shenigans), I had 2/3 Grim Lavamancer but cut it to 2 permanently because I found that aren't a whole lot of targets that are susceptible to succumbing to its ability plus Jotun Grunt was counteracted with that ability. I found that a Jotun Grunt based deck was more appropiate to a Dragon/PitchLong/Gifts/Slaver/Stax environment and that it didn't get annihillated to single removal that combo uses for weenies; Massacre, Pyroclasm. Even if they do that to destroy your other non-Grunt creatures it would be more food for the grunt when you are finished depleting their graveyard of fodder. That said I would also like to stress the importance of Null Rod. Null Rod is Fishes best mana denial to combo. 5 moxes Black Lotus Sol Ring Mana Crypt, Lotus Petal, Mana Vault. That 8-10 mana sources in Slaver 25 Mana sources/ Gifts 25 mana sources/Long 21-22 mana sources/Stax 25+ mana sources... What I am saying that you can shut off a 1/3 to 1/2 of several of the top tier decks mana sources and sometimes you can beat them down with weenies while they're mana screwed. Even if the do recover and bounce/destroy your Null Rod it could already be too late. Also Null Rod can ruin slavers day if they don't find an answer to it and Pitchlong/Gifts has to bounce it, Stax can weld/Destroy, but all in all it can dramatically throw off the tempo at which each decks flows by, especially Bomberman which has been making numerous appearances in top 8's all around the world. Also, I would like to point out the obvious ubiquity of blue spells in top tier decks; Gifts 26-28+/Long 16-18/Slaver 20-23/Bomberman 27!!!!!!!! Blue sources..... That is why Main deck blasts are absolutely neccessary. I would do at least two one pyroblast and red elemental blast or 2-3 Pyroblast so you can put it in the graveyard regardless the spell is blue or not for more Grunt fodder.

That is all for now.

YEs I have been sceptical too about bidding for that guy. I noticed once he put up an Alpha Volcanic Island and it has essence of his other card by looking at the picture giving me a sneaking suspicion that it is not real. I can't explain how the cards look suspicious from the picture but I just got this strange feeling of intuition that the card is fake.

15  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Type 1 Midnight Lock-In? on: September 25, 2006, 05:22:25 am
Hello,

I don't understand this alchol business. Why not after the tourny let the drinking begin in another location and for the people who scrub out they can have the symposium at some secluded area where the prohibition of people under the age of twenty one is in effect. In that case, have some reliable and trustworthy bouncers of some sort bodily guarding the entrance preventing alcohol from going in or out, or minors in.

IF and I MEAN IF, a minor gets involved with alcohol, which could possibly result in the following:

1. Police involvement
2. Lawsuits
3. Hospitalization of the unfortunate
4. Plus the extreme unthinkable

If this midnight tourney gets into some mess because of alcohol, there could be an unerasable scar on the get togethers of magic players.

Remember this chinese proverb when contemplating the involvement of alcohol:

"Vision without action is a daydream, action without vision is a nightmare"

Think about this carefully organizers as for the above, it is because I felt moved to state the obvious consequences in fear of the injury of the image of magic tournaments in general.

I don''t know if I am right or wrong but this would be beyond broken in vintage.

(Yawgmoth's Bargan or Necropotence) + Children of Korlis= Card advantage for any player, that resolves Bargain or Necro, go to 1 life, gain it all back it again. But the big question is paying life the same as losing it?
