That guy's a joke.  At least a lot of the times when you play someone who's a duesh, like Sephiroth, they're actually a good player this guy's an arrogant bastard, and he's pretty bad at magic.

I had an iccident with Fowler today.

He leads off with a turn 1 thoughtsieze.  I misdirect, he forces, he takes my bob, we then both play voltaic keys, so both of our hands are pretty weak after all of this.  we draw dead for a while until i end up with yawgs will and tinker in my hand.  With only 6 mana availible and my only artifacts being key and a mox, i decide to play will to bait the counter and tinker to win.  I throw yawgs will out there, and it gets drained.  He then asks me where my skill is..  I tell him "You'll see.  Just play"  and he promtly quits.  I made a point after to let him know i had tinker in hand, and he declaired i was lying

Yeah I played turn 1 Island go against Fowler today.  He then plays Lotus Island go, and I brainstorm. He responds by V.Clique, and then asks "man, you got the fetch in hand where is the skill?" and quits.  My goal was to brainstorm into one of my drains, and then put drain mana up on turn 2, since my hand had NO control whatsoever.  I also had a land to put on top, and a Frantic Search I wanted to shuffle away.

I mean, don't get me wrong, he's a good player, and he is better than me, but he's not that much better than me that he should be quitting games

But yeah, a loot of people there have inflatted egos and are much think they're much better than they really are. (fowler included)

He didn't even put up a fight either game (we played 2).

So I've been playing a lot of Dominion online recently.  If their server is down, or if I need a break sometimes, I'll flip over for some MWS.  In general I've been lackadaisical about T1 since GenCon, but I keep trying to get back 'into it'.

As a small sample, I played three matches in the last week where the outcomes were: 2x disconnect (without a 'gg') and a MSoly (not sure if real or impostered) who bitched about my luck when I won the first game after drawing lots of crap on turn 11ish and then won game two after he mulled to five.  This is relatively consistent with my experience in general the past few months.  As for in-person experience, GenCon was a blast and ELD and others go to great lengths to make the local scene a lot of fun.  However, the online T1 experience is sceptic and full of people I'd rather not interact with.  I'm not saying this is a new development; perhaps it's just my experience with Dominion (where people are much more polite) puts this in sharper relief.

What I am saying is that I imagine for many people playing MWS is an early step in getting familiar with the game, and that this experience seems to be lousy.  This is especially pertinent to T1 (as opposed to, say, draft), since the cost of playing with real cards is so high.  I'm not sure if there's a solution, but as for the other conversations about increasing the vibrancy of the community in T1 and increasing the player pool, this was an angle I don't remember hearing much about.

Maybe a more focused brokering of interested testing partners via TMD.  Is MIRC still a haven for this?

Sephiroth is playing as Guile

He turn 1ed me both games, and started ranting about how the Workshop deck I was testing isn't Tier 1, and how TPS is a bad matchup for it...

So i told him off, and tried to set up another game, and he continuted to torment me, joining my games with messages like "you cannot say tier 1" bla bla bla


His deck was really wierd too.  It ran vault/key, rituals, vampire hexhunter, and that land that gives you a 20/20 indestructable flyer.  He claimed it was TPS

I got news for you. Sephiroth was playing you under the name of Peppers. This guy singlehandedly makes MWS a hostile environment for new players trying out Vintage on MWS. I think the only real solution is to have MWS show the IP of the people we are connecting with so we can track and filter out psychotic players.

This is a fantastic idea.  I don't know how one would go about contacting the person who could make this happen, but it would heartily improve the MWS experience.

This should be implemented into Cockatrice, as well.  I would use Cockatrice exclusively even if it were simply for this function.

In response I sacrifice the ravager to give my untargeted one a +1/+1 counter...  He says I chosed the wrong ravager but the arrows says otherwise... I could have taken a screenshop but the arrow dissapeared when I sacced him... anyhow here is the log...

Hoow do you actually copy the text?  I've tried to highlight and copy it but it won't work for me...

In your Magic Workstation folder there is a file called "GameLogs." The logging option may have to be enabled in MWS (can't recall or look at the moment).

Highlighting in MWS then using CTRL + C may also work, though I can't recall that at the moment either.

then, at one point, while I was searching my library for a fetch, he put the Vampiric Tutor from his graveyard into his hand.  I notice and say something, and he denies it.  then he plays dumb, then says "well, if you want to conceed, go right ahead", and then denied it again, claiming "I thought it was in my hand the whole time"

So, he proceeds to bash every play I make, until Finally, I tutor up voltaic key (my time vault was getting lonely, being in play all by itself).  I cast it.  He drains, I drain, he then uses a COLORLESS land to play a second drain, which I drain (figured I'd let him cheat and still win)

The game ended with my screaming NOOB, and quitting.

This is the baddest beat story I have ever seen. I am playing Shop Aggro, my opponent is playing Tez with an Oath sb plan.

My opponent has the following board:
Oath of druids, 5 lands, Leyline of the Void. I have Triskelion, Sphere of Resistance, Thorn of Amethyst. I'm thinking I am dead by now, he Oaths up Empyrial Archangel. We sit there draw go for a while, but my life total is dwindling and it's apparent I need to make a move. My only out is to assume he has drawn all of his creatures and I play out Triskelion. He decides to FoW it and on his next draw step he draws his Sphinx of the Steel Wind, his only remaining Oath creature. He doesn't have Krosan Reclamation or Blessing as its a transformational board. He attacks me to 6, my turn. I play out my Goblin Welder.
