25 representing!
It seems like 25-27 is where most of our userbase is. Which makes sense for me, since during the beginning of the Vintage boom (2003-2004) these people were around there 20's I myself started with Magic around 1999-ish (Invasion IIRC) and got into Vintage around 06/07
I bet that's right for most people, I started shortly after 4th edition come out iirc though.

26 going on 27 in November. Started when I went to a yard sale, back when I lived in Chicago, and found a deckbox from Ice Age,in it were red and green cards from Visions,Stronghold and Wheatherlight. Originally I bought them because the art on Mage il-vec and ArcticWarewolfes. After trying to figure out what these cards were for, I realized it is a game Weeks later I went to a near by comicbook store and the owner recomended the Classic ed.(6th) Once I learned the steps and phases I went on to falling in love with the Urza block Got into Vintage right after Mirrodin. Thank God for Chrome Mox and DSC!

However, a plurality of players are EXACTLY 25.

I started in middle school (~98) and remember some of my friends parents not letting them play because they thought it was satanic or some other BS. I quit when I went to high school (because only kids play silly games like Magic lol) but came back in college because of my roommates just in time for Ravnica. I just got into Vintage in the past year or two.

FWIW, back when I started lurking on TMD, I was around 24 or so. In the five years that have since passed, I still recognize a lot of the same names. It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that our mean age shifted upwards in that window.

29, My first magic experience was a revised starter deck, and 3 packs of the dark. Amazing...too bad I traded those boring "Double-Lands" for Serra Angels, a ball lightning, and some commons!
My local neighborhood actual had a thriving magic scene- at least 6-8 kids all playing within walking distance, Ernahmageddon it to Keeper to Sligh....it was awesome. I remember trying to have "tournaments" but never agreeing on what could be legal.

It ought not to be surprising that the average age on an eternal format forum is mid-late 20's. Unless one bought many of their eternal cards during Alpha, Beta, Unlimited, Revised then it would generally require an adult job to afford the cost of entry.
Therefore an older population on this forum.

I started playing Magic in summer of 1996 (Alliances) and started Vintage competitively in the summer of 2002. I still have my very first Magic card: Kjeldoran Escort (version 2).

I guess I should tell my magic tale. Started collecting cards at the end of unlimited. My first card was a beta wall of bone that I ganked form some kid in 5th or 6th grade. Didn't actually learn how to play until Ice Age. Since I really had my older brother to play with at first, we had always been competitive, in a sense, and we both started playing type one around Alliances/Tempest. Erhnam Djinn and Serendib Efreet are still some of my favorite creatures.... too bad they suck now.

I'm 23, turning 24 in a few weeks. I started writing for SCG at age 17(!), shortly after my first posts to TMD. I've been a Magic player since 1996, and still consider myself one despite years passing between games.
