It was great to be playing Vintage again. Calvin runs an awesome show up here in Lancaster, I hope to be able to make it out to more of these and other vintage events. Sucks to lose in top 8 but it felt good to be back. VERY Brief Report: Slops: Glackin's poor playing choices....

This part:
"I am beating him down, but stupidly let a Vampiric Tutor resolve. He resolves the most skill intensive enchantment in the game, and I lose to Griselbrand."
Stuff like this annoys me. He apparently makes a mistake and loses because of it, but somehow still manages to imply his opponent lacks skill and got lucky.
^ Clearly doesn't know who Soly is.... Obviously that would be the picture for his article also.

If anyone else is posting twitter updates post you name here.
Good Luck to everyone battling today!!

I apologize for it taking so long to play our match. My work schedule paired with the time difference and some serious family and personal issues have made my life a bit complex at the moment.
He swings and strip the Bayou. (wrong play btw, but I guess he smelled my 2 other bob in my hand...)
How is that even close to the wrong play? If I take Savannah you still have Noble Hierarch for G and W so why wouldn't I just want to cut you off from black. The reason I didn't feel like chatting during all match was because it felt like you were complaining the entire time. You did enough chatting for the both of us. I felt a lot of your comments during the match were very condescending which made for an unpleasant experience. Such as, Guli: game should have been over by now Womba taps Trygon Predator. Guli: yet you are probably winning somehow
Guli: but never had this before lol I also playested this match for hoursI have been on both sides of the luck component of this game numerous times. I will continue to be on both sides of the luck component to as well as anyone who plays this game. I just feel better sportsmanship could have been displayed. I am sorry for your "luck" I guess. Best of luck in the future. I enjoyed your deck Guli, it has been really fun to playtest with and against when its firing on all cylinders.

So I just beat brokenbacon 2-1
Below is the list I ran. All I wanted to do was just jam with four Jace, the Mind Sculptor in a fish to top the curve. I never really had a problem with lands or casting Jace. I also wanted to jam Oozes to help win against other Goyfs and because I felt it was just a great utility card against Snapcaster, Will, and obviously Dredge. Which is why I included the Cages to have some sort of game against Dredge and something for Tinker. Despite its merit I just never really liked Null Rod and Stony Silence so thats where I decided to just jam four Jace....
Geist got jammed in there because he is one of my favorite cards in Standard and I felt he could do some damage....
Deck Name: So Jace, Ooze, and Geist walk into a bar......
4 Noble Hierarch 3 Qasali Pridemage 3 Tarmogoyf 4 Trygon Predator 1 Edric, Spymaster of Trest 4 Force of Will 3 Grafdigger's Cage 1 Brainstorm 1 Time Walk 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Pearl 1 Black Lotus 4 Wasteland 1 Strip Mine 3 Tropical Island 3 Tundra 1 Forest 1 Island 4 Misty Rainforest 1 Scalding Tarn 4 Jace, the Mind Sculptor 2 Scavenging Ooze 3 Mental Misstep 1 Geist of Saint Traft 3 Path to Exile SB: 1 Dismember SB: 1 Tarmogoyf SB: 1 Grafdigger's Cage SB: 2 Hurkyl's Recall SB: 2 Flusterstorm SB: 1 Qasali Pridemage SB: 4 Steel Sabotage SB: 3 Ravenous Trap
Game One: Bacon was on the play and lead with a blue dual land into a preordain. I then proceeded to Wasteland into a Mox Emerald into a Grafdigger's Cage. The following turn I tried to jam an Ooze which was countered. This allowed Bacon to resolve his Goyf and begin the beats. I was able to resolve a Goyf of and then we began trading blows. Bacon set up with a Lightning Bolt on my Goyf and offered a Snapcaster to complete the trade to leave his loan Goyf on board serving a plate of kick ass.
I hit my fourth mana source and Jace comes down. I was able to out tempo his loan Goyf as I still had a few guys in hand to turn the heat up.
Game Two: I get ran over pretty throughly here on the draw. My mulligan to six was meh with just some Wastelands, a Goyf, and Trygon essentially. He has turn two Clique off his Mox Sapphire and Sol Ring after I turn one Wasteland. He is then able to keep it in high gear with a Goyf as well as countering mine.
Game Three: Goes pretty lopsided as well. He has to mulligan to six and my opener has Recall. He has a Misstep for my Hierarch the turn after I Recall. I slam down a turn three Jace and pretty much ride it to victory. Friends soon showed up to help finish him off as I continuously fatesealed him.

With the "what printing would put the nail in Dredge?" I think Kevin mentioned it in the podcast that the format in a way is "pure," metagame driven. Vintage is at a point where the format is so big and wide open I don’t think any printing or even printings would actually put the nail in the coffin for Dredge because it would be able to adapt, just like any other deck in the format. That paired with the fact that people are ALWAYS going to take the Dredge challenge, not playing any SB hate hoping to dodge it.

So reading this again I have a question about your plans for Jailer.
I played around with this list a little online last night and found that with only chain of vapor and 1 Darkblast I was really weak to jailers. Was your hope to just not face that many of them?
I can't speak for Mark, but as someone who tested the deck pretty extensively with him, we were primarily worried about jailer the most actually. However, we knew the hype would be toward a leyline/cage combo out of sideboards. 4 CoV/1 Darkblast seems light but you also have cabal therapies. Since all of the other hate cards target leyline/cage you can use the Chains to bounce jailer because all of your other answers answer the leylines. In addition, you can just beat your opponent down with dudes if they have a jailer out. Our metagame has mostly consisted of 1 to 2 Jailers at most. People use Jailer as a compliment to Leylines and other stuff rather than a primary hate card for our metagame so this build was banking on some of that being exploited. Like Allen said we knew going in Jailers were going to be a pain but we only anticipated few if any with Cage being the new flavor of the week. Because of this I felt comfortable between Unmask/Chain/Darkblast to be fine for this event.
